The back provides a lot of useful information.

This is a sticker that is used to participate in a raffle to win a Nakayashi Walkie-Talkie.

The deadline for the raffle is also listed on the back, which (in this Mew’s case) is November 30th, 1999. Dates in Japan are sometimes written using the Japanese era name, so it states Heisei 11 (平成１１年), which is 1999. Some of the other cards state Heisei 12 (平成１2年), but this Mew has the closest appearance to your card. You can look at the back of your card too see when the deadline for the raffle is, which will give you a better idea of when your card was produced.

It also states that this product was from a package of Sushi Taro すし太郎４人前. All of the cards above in these links list this as the originating product.

Your copy is peeled already (bottom) and says “please try again!”.

Released with a Mirinda promotion in Mainland China. The characters used are in Simplified Chinese. “Mewtwo” in Taiwan would be 超夢 (as opposed to 超梦, which is what is on your card). “Pokémon” in Taiwan would be 神奇寶貝 (as opposed to 神奇宝贝, which is what is on your card). “Pokémon” in Hong Kong would use the Cantonese spelling.

Here is a graded copy I found from a Chinese grading company:

It states 2001 as the year, and calls them “2001 美年达 神奇宝贝 贴纸”.

BGS states the source as Pokémon Center - 2005 Pokemon Japanese Center Sticker Holon Tower Mewtwo Vs Rayquaza BGS 6.5 on Fanatics Collect

I do not have data on distribution for this specific sticker for Holon Tower. However, in 2007, a similar sticker for the TCG set DP Shining Darkness was distributed “…at the Japanese Pokemon Centers, back in 2007, if you purchased more than 3000 yen (about $35) worth of items during a special limited time campaign.” This may be a similar case. I no longer trust this source as it misidentified the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Ramune Stickers (The Giant Pokémon non-TCG Identification Thread - #247 by sableguy) as a Pokémon Center promotion instead. My apologies.

I could not find information on these sets on the English internet. Therefore, I am documenting it here, for future reference, in the hopes that it may be useful to some of you. In particular, this information is likely relevant to Generation I species collectors.

2001 DaDa Bubble Gum Pokémon Cards (China)

Chinese non-TCG Pokémon set.

Includes Generation I Pokémon, from 1 - 150. Unsure if Mew is part of the set.

Included two cards per pack in Top-Insight Big Bubble Gum packs.

One source (https://post.smzdm.com/p/551116/) describes four different production runs:

1. Plastic Film Card - Guangzhou Panyu - 塑膜卡（广州番禹版）
2. Plastic Film Card - Jiakou - 塑膜卡（佳口版）
3. Frosted Card - 磨砂卡
4. Mirror Card - 镜面卡

This large Pidgeot is noted from the source to be a Plastic Film Card, while the bottom right picture is noted to be a mirror card. The peeling is due to damage, and is not an intended feature of the card.

This left Psyduck is noted from the source to be a Frosted Card, while the right is a Mirror Card.

Top-Insight (群英社) is a Taiwanese media company responsible for Pokémon licensing in China and Taiwan.

Copyright on the TV advertisement dates them to the year 1998:

The advertisement shows that they were also licensed by Top-Insight.

They are numbered from 1 - 151, which likely indicate they cover all of the Generation I Pokémon. However, it seems that there can be differing artwork for the same Pokémon. Their numbering remains the same even across different artwork:

Top-Insight

Hey, top-insight is actually the company responsible for licensing (in most of Asia except Japan). The actual brand for the product is 大大, owned by spanish company called JoyCo.

@Julius19 sent me some photos of officially-licensed Chinese products, which I identified.

I transliterated the Chinese company 大大 to DaDa, as that is closer to what is being written than JoyCo, the owner company. This is simply to help me keep things organized.

1998 (?) DaDa Roll Pokémon Circle Card (China)

All of these products seem to come from the same gum company (DaDa), from around the same era. I verified all except the “Glossy” variant to have a copyright year of 1998 through looking at the copyright year printed on the cards.
Julius19 notes that few products were produced outside of Japan in 1998, therefore, the copyright date and actual production date likely do not match. These may have been produced anywhere from 1999-2001.

They are often found listed on Chinese auction websites under 大大卷神奇宝贝圆卡 or similar.

Chinese forum posts also cite DaDa as the manufacturer, and they came in gum roll candy.

Nissin did a distribution of Pokémon products within China. This website states that they were part of distributions with its noodles. This includes the Food Card, Magnet, and Circle Card below.

Unfortunately, I do not know of one. Your best bet is to find someone who is currently in China as a middleman to buy these products, as many of these auction websites cannot even be accessed outside of China without Chinese social media accounts (WeChat, QQ).
Even if you were to make an account, it would likely require a Chinese credit card and address to purchase an item.

• See above notes about 1998 Copyright years. Although 1998 is listed as the copyright year on these products, they are unlikely to have been produced during 1998 due to being from outside Japan.

It seems that the official translation for Tazos into Traditional Chinese is 炫風卡 (xuàn fēng kǎ), which roughly means “Whirlwind Card”.

• Translation note: The first character 炫 means “dazzling”, while the second character means 風 “wind”, while the third character 卡 is simply the Chinese word for card. It doesn’t seem to be a common phrase, and more often seems to be used for the names of products or in advertising. For example, the McDonald’s McFlurry is translated using the same characters (冰炫風).

Zümrüt Gida Bubblegum Stickers

@Julius19 sent me this photo of a Mewtwo sticker, with the company name Zumrut.

They mentioned that it was a bubblegum sticker from Ukraine/Russia, but was unable to verify whether it was licensed or find information on the company Zumrut.

This image is blurry, but Zümrüt, or Zümrüt Gida, is a candy company from Turkey. This company is sometimes listed on business registrations as Zümrüt Gida Sanayi̇ Ve Ti̇caret Anoni̇m Şi̇rketi̇.

The first link above also provides lots of images of gum wrappers.

This sticker seems to feature the old logo. A clearer image of this logo can be seen on this sports card:

This logo matches the logo on the Mewtwo sticker.

The new logo looks like this, according to the website above:

It was likely gum that was made in Turkey, then sent to Ukraine or Russia.
It seems that Turkish bubblegum was popular in Ukraine/Russia. The wrappers seen on the above website seem to have Cyrillic and Turkish written on them, which indicates that bubblegum made in Turkey was also intended for the Ukranian/Russian market.

• Note: I checked through Google Translate auto-detect to see if the language was Turkish. It could be mistaken.

Zümrüt Gida has a website, although I was unable to access it live. An archived version is available here: Zümrüt Gýda |

Therefore, this Mewtwo sticker was likely made in Turkey. I was unable to determine whether or not this sticker was officially licensed, or when it was produced.
However, I was able to find three more Pokémon stickers with the old Zümrüt logo on it.

It is much easier to find sports stickers for this company, which may be helpful in further investigation. Some helpful searches for me were “Zumrut bubblegum stickers”.

I apologize if I have gotten anything incorrect. This is slightly beyond what I am used to investigating.
