Roll the dice ebay purchase

I’m 95% sure I got scammed on this purchase (bought the 1st ed Neo Discovery) since this definitely falls into the “too good to be true” category and the seller had no seller feedback. They had a few booster boxes go on sale, and they all sold within hours. Wanted to see if anyone else here at efour decided to roll the dice last night. This is my first thread I’ve created on here so apologies if it’s in the wrong place.

Scam?

Yep a lot of these scammers on eBay recently. Big giveaway is different background in every pic

Lol yeah I figured. I’m guessing ebay will be getting a few refund requests from this seller next week :slightly_frowning_face:

If it’s too good to be true, it probably is

This guy has been posting these a lot. “100% authentic!”

Definitely a scammer.

That authenticity claim is like if Pizza Hut decided to claim theyre 100% authentic Italian food. Just, no.

If the 25% of market value price wasn’t a giveaway enough!

Now a skyridge box is available on ebay for 500 usd! The scams continue!

Hahaha I saw that, also saw someone else post about this same seller today. I tried getting it refunded but it says it already got shipped. Once I get the empty box or whatever random thing is inside it, can I get eBay to offer a refund? I’m guessing they will probably be getting a lot of messages from people that bought from him.

Did they have tracking ? Film when you open it. Very curious to see what arrives :joy:

They do have tracking. I’m definitely going to film the opening. I’ll post it on here, I’m very excited to see what they send me instead of a 1st ed booster box haha

I had two experiences recently:

  1. A $2k 1st Edition Team Rocket booster box. Seller gave me tracking, asked me to mark as received before I received the package so that their money would be released, and I ended up getting a box of cards that smelled like cigarettes.
  2. A $600 Base Set booster box. Seller gave tracking that went nowhere, removed the item from eBay, and eBay refunded me since they pulled the same shit on several other people (using these same pictures you’re posting).

What a scumbag, I’m guessing they’re trying to pull the same stunt under a different seller account

I believe that was me, I was doing my usual in class ebay browsing (Fluid Dynamics is realllllllllllllyyyyyyyy boring lol) and I saw a 1st edition gym heroes box for $600 from this same guy and ultimately decided not to go down that rabbit hole. A part of me wanted to do it because of ebay’s buyer protection but that’s a whole song and dance inside itself sometimes.

That’s why I went ahead and bought it. At the time, there were two other booster boxes plus the discovery one. The other two sold out real fast so I decided to gamble on it. My thoughts were that if I got scammed, eBay’s buyer protection would help me. Hopefully that’s the case and I don’t lose out on $670…my wife won’t be too happy about that lol

I think somebody mentioned, don’t waste your time buying items from scammers who steal pictures. All his picture backgrounds were different.

This.

Even though eBay will likely always refund you your money, that’s still a $670 hole sitting in your bank account for what will probably be a box of pencils.

I don’t think anyone out there that is so out of touch that they are going to list a WOTC booster box for $670, so whenever you see something like that listed on eBay, just ignore it. It’s obviously a scam.

Not to mention its a waste of your time, and your money isn’t working for you during that period of being refunded.

Yeah that’s the main thing. eBay emailed me yesterday and said that they have started the refund process, but I have to wait a few days.
