@bartallen2, i said overprinted or reprinted. the generations set was overprinted and it doesn’t contain any chase cards, but feel free to load up on them if you think that they are going to increase in value.
Consider at the time people weren’t hording Pokemon cards with the expectation that there would be value in the future. A majority of that product was opened. There are probably many people who are thinking like you that are hoarding modern product.
Yes, chances are most modern product will rise by some variable, but that variable is likely small compared to other cards/investments.
Let’s take an “older” modern product, Evolutions. Modern product that has an identity. Release about $90 per box, today about $110. Great! That’s $20 per box… Until you have to sell with fees and shipping.
Maybe it takes 10 years total to double? Great you matched the stock market 7% annual average and this is without considering shipping/fees.
So in short, maybe your not wrong that these products will go up, but with better options for increasing your $, why wrap it up in modern product?
well, actually, i got them for free, i do not invest in modern products at all lol. I was just wondering if they could go up, due to limited edition and the fact that those are old pokemons, not those new digimon-pokemons.
Well i don’t kknow if it falls into the category you described but japanese promos (modern) are somewhat collectible. I would say they might be the only exception for modern.
@fresco , Yes, I am only talking about english modern. A ton of japanese modern products are doing great and I would highly recommend buying them to anyone.
English is simply printed to absolutely obscene levels. People literally have entire rooms full of modern english. Sets from 4 years ago are still appearing in brand new product because there are literally warehouses full of this stuff and they can’t even get rid of it.
True, but during that period of time players needed the Jolteon EX for events, thus the Mew box was opened a lot more than any of the future products - ergo, I’m isolating that one product (sealed that in very box, specifically) as opposed to the generic Generations term. But yeah, Scott, brought up the comparisons with Generations and Pokekyun ~
