I think the 2016 had less copies awarded than the previous years. According to bulba, 2016 was awarded in 2 locations, where 2015 was awarded in 4 locations.

Either way this situation is a great lesson in understanding “demand” in supply & demand. Demand can be short term-long term. I think this situation is definitely on the short term side. Barring that the supply doesn’t drastically decrease, I think being patient is the right choice (it usually always is).

And in terms of selling, would being patient be the right choice right now? I bought this card thinking about waiting for 5 years as you say in your videos in case it increased its value. How can we know when to sell? In this case, would it be better to sell now or to wait?

Being patient is the general best option. I do think this card will have long term collectiblity. Speaking short term though, now would be the time to test the market if you had a few spares.

I want him to take a completely worthless card and hype it up as super rare, just to see how much he can effect the market.

I’m starting to realize how much influence YouTubers have on the fandom. A semi popular YouTuber, Laughing Pikachu made a video yesterday on an altered card she’d bought, and today /r/Pokemon has a few posts about these cards when I’ve never seen a post on them before.

Is anyone friends with him or any of the other YouTubers like Leonhart? It would be nice to have them join the forum. Although it can be a bit annoying to hear the misinformation, it is ultimately beneficial to have someone popular sharing excitement about Pokemon TCG. Plus, if ultimately they are better educated about what they say or spread it will only be more beneficial for the community.

Edit: I am down to shoot them a message. Its a long a shot but I don’t have anything to lose lol.

Doubt they would actually spend the time to come here seeing as they hardly do any research to begin with. The information is readily available already, besides very niche rare items which almost no super popular youtubers have.

I do know leonhart. He reached out to me about my collection, and we have spoken a few times since then. He is a super nice guy. I don’t think he goes out on a limb like unlistedleaf does, correct me if I am wrong.

One thing I want to add, Keep in mind these people are all doing the same thing we are; enjoying the hobby. Sure someone specifically like unlistedleaf hypes up cards and is in no way an expert. However, there are clearly individuals who are interested in collecting, just like us, where this is their way of receiving information.

Ideally I would prefer large youtubers to be like jwitz. Seasoned in the hobby, and also extremely popular.
