Im just looking for opinions on the cards shown. Ive never seen gold star look like that but its possible if angle doesnt capture light correctly? Seller only has 1 sale so im a bit suspicious
These are not pics in the listing
The listing pics look more legit. I asked for private pics to see the backs of the cards and he sent this with them
Unfortunately this is from a lot listing so its not covered through authenticity guarantee
They look fine to me but there are plenty of pokemon cards out there (especially these ones), if a listing doesnt feel right I usually just pass until the next one. Only risk what youre willing to lose.
I think you’re right, I tried to align them and the GS is 5-10% thicker than it should imho.
Both cards texture are a bit suspicious (kinda grainy?) but I could be biased.
To be honest delta species gold stars and neo destiny shinings are the most deceptive fakes out there in my opinion, I find them obnoxiously difficult to recognize giving their holo patterns.
Wailmer saying its fake is enough for me to avoid them, also that theyre in a lot to get around the guarantee when theyll easily sell separately and probably for more. I should probably look for more than 5 seconds to answer next time but if its good enough for psa then its fine, right?
Well there was a closer up pic that I think op removed but yeah the borders just stuck out to me. They look like the classic decent wotc fake, but for ex that sticks out imo because they’re supposed to be a lot thinner
I think the back of the cards would tell the tale if we had those pics
they look like psa 9 minimum and honestly psa 10 chance. yet hes selling them together through auction? is he selling together because hes trying to avoid authenticity?
I knew it was suspicious so i asked for private pics of the back. I said maybe thats why… because the backs suck
to my surprise they are gem
All of that quote screams whatnot scammer to me. Pokebeast, can i have some money? It seems like you might have money to burn if youre risking it on listings like this.
(Im just hassling you because wow that listing is obnoxious)
I can surely help, but to be honest Ebay just doesn’t care. I often reported listing with obvious fakes (and stinky dodgy ones, not even deceptively good). Some of them were even “mass” report, cause they were posted here on E4, but no effect.
If you end up winning the auction, tell the seller that your son bid on it without you knowing and that you want to cancel the purchase. Works every time
Beast…, c’mon now. You really bid on this listing? You have to be trolling us.
I can understand the goldstar since the holo isnt immediately identifiable as fake if the angle is right but the clear picture of a nontextured shining charizard is clearly fake. The whole listing is offputting.
Why don’t you buy pre graded stuff? These types of cards essentially don’t exist raw you’ll save a lot of time. PSA 8 and clean 7s are essentially raw price these days too
That wasnt your first reply when i posted these pics
You said “they look good to me”
Now suddenly when everyone else gets in on this thread you change it to
“Cant believe you bid on this you must be trolling us”
From a zoom out pic and no other context like price or seller, yeah they look fine but I overlooked a lot and quickly defaulted to those who are more focused on these sets.
With all the other context only you were aware of, yeah its sketch and not something I would have trusted. Im not looking to be a jerk but there’s a lot of red flags that are around the listing and with the other photos they provided.
You seem to be spending some decent money on your collection goals and no one knows everything when they start, so ebay should be able to cancel your bid (call if necessary) and take it all as a learning experience.
These are really obvious fakes. The texture is wrong on the Shining Charizard. The Charizard has borders that are too thick and the body of Charizard should not be so washed out from the underlying holo layer.
With more time in the hobby, you’ll be able to spot these fakes more easily @POKEBEAST. Remember that if it’s too good to be true, it probably is.
