Question about the Gameboy promo cards

Besides what you posted, here’s some more with the GB symbol:

Japanese Dark Ivysaur & Japanese Dark Venusaur came in Trainer’s Magazine #10

Japanese Dark Fearow came in the Gameboy 2 Official Guidebook

Japanese Coro Coro GB Meowth

English non holo Meowth released in Japan at a JR Rally(same artwork as holo Meowth black star)

For the longest time I thought the GB stood for Great Britain, the only instance I ever saw it was the Meowth card which came bundled with the TCG GB Game, I knew we got a different card from the one bundled with the Japanese one, so I had always assumed this just happened to be the UK variant, up until I saw a Japanese card with the GB symbol and the illusion was broken.

Is there a definitive list out there or has everything that has been mentioned thus far the entirety?

Bulbapedia should have them all listed under Unnumbered Promotional cards

they dont

So a total of 9 cards?

thanks !

Actually they do.

I already found GB Dragonite in the 1998 section of it lol

You said bulb should have them all listed, they have only a couple. From what I’ve seen

They’re all there lol, just have to look. They’re all listed under the year they came out.

Ok cool thanks for the info

Yes a total of 9. The link to bulbapedia isn’t great unless you know where to drill down.

1998: Dragonite & Venusaur

2000: Meowth(English) JR stamp rally…the Meowth link also references the Black star holo Meowth # 10

2001: Dark Ivysaur & Dark Venusaur, from Trainer’s Mag #10
Lugia, Great Rocket’s Mewtwo & Dark Fearow

Yeah exactly. Maneuvering that Unnumbered promotional cards list isn’t easy if you don’t already have some knowledge on it.
For example, the Dark Ivysaur & Dark Venusaur have no correlation to any game boy promo on the the Promotion tab next to the name. All they say is “Pokémon Card Trainers Vol. 10 (March 2001)”

But good to know there is a solid 9 out there!

thanks avalanche

There also exist two cards that were previously gameboy game exclusive artwork and got an actual printed card in the web series. The two are Tangela and Electrode. Though not strictly GB promos like the ones with the GB logo, all of those gameboy promos feature artwork that was exclusive to the gameboy game just like the two web reprints so I’d sort of count them as well haha.
