QotD: Whose collection belongs in your, AND ONLY YOUR, Hall of Fame besides your own?

Whoa, I was not expecting to awaken from my hiatus slumber here today to something this meaningful lol.

That really means so damn much to me, and it also comes as a big surprise too because I really never thought that me showing little things ever had much impact on anyone aside from just those that used to gawk at what I have for value reasons alone. Ive very much declined from collection sharing over the years because I find more joy now in just posting my daily adventures with plushies, but knowing that my sharing was honored so much (and by a good friend as well) means a ton. Maybe Ill start sharing things here and there again in the future haha :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: (but im always open to sharing with friends privately, so anyone can chat me up somewhere (preferably discord or instagram) and Id love to show you fun things ive got here in my Dedenne lair lolol.

I needed this too, as it comes at a very rough time of year for me where (many already know) ive been struggling a bit with depression. Been a hard time, but this really lifted me up a bunch.

Now, to throw my own take back as to whose collections are in my Hall of Fame, i actually would have to say the people that I would put there are the ones that I see just navigating their way through the collecting sphere with passion and compassion (for others). Today, whenever I see people posting on instagram it seems very one sided. Always lots of baity posts flashing some item, then in the post saying some bullshit like “whats your favorite???” or asking some forwarding question just to push their own ego boosting agenda. However, the people that just hangout and engage with others on the level of just being people that love a certain thing while also loving others for doing the same regardless of what they own are my absolute favorites. I wont name specifics (because a lot of them tend to be more private and like to just be found and befriended through natural means on Twitter as they are shy Japanese fans), but without a doubt @c011ect0r youre also on my list just for having a huge heart alone which speaks volumes.

The more heart, the more love, and the more connection over competition and the pursuit of self interest will always be my Hall of Famers :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :hamster:

Together with @OCDCompletist , our collections and knowledge would change the way people look at vintage. Eventually still might.

@Quuador and @joponnes dedication to species collecting—especially non-TCG—has always been inspiring to me. I jumped into non-TCG after seeing their collections and updates and haven’t looked back!

@Frosty.Puppy has a solid collection! I look at their collection thread a lot and the layout, taste in collection, and completeness is delightful

Oh wow, thank you so much!! That seriously means a lot! It was honestly the perfect way to start my morning hearing that!
:pikajoy:

I’ve just had a look to see if you have a thread too and I’m glad I found it! Shining, no rarity, error and more, I need to see more please!

First of all thanks to everyone mentioning me. Always nice to hear my collection is inspiring and posts are appreciated.

And honestly, there are too many too name tbh.. I might edit in more along the lines. But here the ones that come to mind right now:

  • @justinator - Pikachu collector : Without Justin, I might not even be here in the first place.
  • thepikachucollector on IG - Pikachu collector : Tom owns the largest Pikachu TCG collection worldwide rn afaik.
  • @mdlsoares / mdlsoares_cards on IG - Pikachu collector : Second largest Pikachu collection worldwide (I’m third place btw).
  • @shizzlemetimbers - Gyarados collector : Amazing Gyarados collecting, including the SNAP, and love his history-related additions (e.g. his TCG poster and sealed May 1996 PokĂ©mon Club product are especially amazing).
  • @azulryu - Gyarados collector : Devin’s collection may not contain the SNAP Gyarados (yet), but it’s equally as amazing. I especially love all the non-TCG stuff, and the attached stories/background info.
  • @qwachansey - Chansey collector : Eddie’s Chansey collection is also absolutely amazing, including the SNAP; No. 1 Trainer from 2002 with Chansey cameo; Creatures Deck 1995 Chansey; and many unique errors.
  • @regigigagod / regigigagod on IG - miscut (+ other errors) collector : Although he hasn’t posted too much in his collection thread on the forum itself, Joe has an amazing miscut (+ misprints in general) collection.
  • @c011ect0r - filler cards collector : His collection of filler cards is very cool. An unique collection goal, with a surprising amount of variants available (most of which he acquired for his collection already).
  • make_boredlord on IG - Yu-Gi-Oh filler & error collector : Speaking of filler and error cards, it may not be PokĂ©mon, but his Yu-Gi-Oh error collection is insane and very cool as well.
  • @rockabelltcg / rockabelltcg on IG - PSA-10 Jolteon collection : He might have already sold (most of) his collection by now. But although it’s already hard enough to try and collect all English and Japanese cards for a (gen 1) species in general, he took it to another level by going for a full PSA-10 set!
  • @joponnes - Grimer & Muk collctor : Not only do I enjoy Johannes’ Slime Army on the TCG side, but especially his non-TCG army is always a blast to see, and I enjoy all the collection updates.
  • @robertocaterpie5 - Caterpie collector : Robert’s Caterpie collection is very exhaustive, both on the TCG and non-TCG side. I still have my :crossed_fingers: that you’d one day get that pesky unlimited edition Korean Base Set to 100% complete your Caterpie TCG collection.
  • @tonysandlin - Voltorb/Electrode collector : Eric was already collecting Voltorb/Electrode in all languages years before I joined the forum, and although TPC(i) keeps annoyingly releasing new Voltorb/Electrode cards lately, now that you have both the Japanese unlimited edition L2 versions and Professor Program versions, it’s only a matter of time before you can officially say you’ve 100% completed your main collection goal!
  • @rabby250 - Asian TCG & PokĂ©mon Battle e+ collector : Although he still has his default avatar after 4.5 years  , Rabby250’s collection of rare Asian cards is insane as well. From a full (334) PSA-10 Japanese S-P collection; to some of the rarest e-Reader cards he’s been chasing for ~20 years; to a PSA-10 Lucario VSTAR HR language set; you name it.
  • @lyleberr - TCG Deck collector : Lyleberr’s deck collection is very unique and it’s always great to see an update in his collection thread, even if it doesn’t seem to happen too often.

Like I said, I could name so many more people here. Loads of amazing species collectors in all stages of collecting: some only just getting started, others 100% complete in all available languages, and everything in between. Load of collectors who’ve been in the hobby for a long time with amazing accomplishments, including full WotC PSA-10 sets and/or trophy cards. Loads of amazing or unique collection goals I might edit in later on after all (most of them have stopped collecting, although the same applies to some of the collectors mentioned in the above list as well tbf). Etc. etc.

Greetz,
Quuador

I would say the initial collections that really inspired me were @zheruiliang and @Kampes_Cards . Their promo collections are exquisite and it was mind boggling to see such rare cards in their binders and I would easily have them in my hall of fame.

The collections that now keep inspiring me and I would easily have them in my collection would be @Frosty.Puppy, @rabby250 , @Kanto_Cowboy and @haytertcg .

All of these collections are a Japanese promo collectors dream and are an easy HoF.

Cheers!
