Whoa, I was not expecting to awaken from my hiatus slumber here today to something this meaningful lol.
That really means so damn much to me, and it also comes as a big surprise too because I really never thought that me showing little things ever had much impact on anyone aside from just those that used to gawk at what I have for value reasons alone. Ive very much declined from collection sharing over the years because I find more joy now in just posting my daily adventures with plushies, but knowing that my sharing was honored so much (and by a good friend as well) means a ton. Maybe Ill start sharing things here and there again in the future haha (but im always open to sharing with friends privately, so anyone can chat me up somewhere (preferably discord or instagram) and Id love to show you fun things ive got here in my Dedenne lair lolol.
I needed this too, as it comes at a very rough time of year for me where (many already know) ive been struggling a bit with depression. Been a hard time, but this really lifted me up a bunch.
Now, to throw my own take back as to whose collections are in my Hall of Fame, i actually would have to say the people that I would put there are the ones that I see just navigating their way through the collecting sphere with passion and compassion (for others). Today, whenever I see people posting on instagram it seems very one sided. Always lots of baity posts flashing some item, then in the post saying some bullshit like âwhats your favorite???â or asking some forwarding question just to push their own ego boosting agenda. However, the people that just hangout and engage with others on the level of just being people that love a certain thing while also loving others for doing the same regardless of what they own are my absolute favorites. I wont name specifics (because a lot of them tend to be more private and like to just be found and befriended through natural means on Twitter as they are shy Japanese fans), but without a doubt @c011ect0r youre also on my list just for having a huge heart alone which speaks volumes.
The more heart, the more love, and the more connection over competition and the pursuit of self interest will always be my Hall of Famers
@Quuador and @joponnes dedication to species collectingâespecially non-TCGâhas always been inspiring to me. I jumped into non-TCG after seeing their collections and updates and havenât looked back!
@azulryu - Gyarados collector : Devinâs collection may not contain the SNAP Gyarados (yet), but itâs equally as amazing. I especially love all the non-TCG stuff, and the attached stories/background info.
@qwachansey - Chansey collector : Eddieâs Chansey collection is also absolutely amazing, including the SNAP; No. 1 Trainer from 2002 with Chansey cameo; Creatures Deck 1995 Chansey; and many unique errors.
@regigigagod / regigigagod on IG - miscut (+ other errors) collector : Although he hasnât posted too much in his collection thread on the forum itself, Joe has an amazing miscut (+ misprints in general) collection.
@c011ect0r - filler cards collector : His collection of filler cards is very cool. An unique collection goal, with a surprising amount of variants available (most of which he acquired for his collection already).
@rockabelltcg / rockabelltcg on IG - PSA-10 Jolteon collection : He might have already sold (most of) his collection by now. But although itâs already hard enough to try and collect all English and Japanese cards for a (gen 1) species in general, he took it to another level by going for a full PSA-10 set!
@joponnes - Grimer & Muk collctor : Not only do I enjoy Johannesâ Slime Army on the TCG side, but especially his non-TCG army is always a blast to see, and I enjoy all the collection updates.
@robertocaterpie5 - Caterpie collector : Robertâs Caterpie collection is very exhaustive, both on the TCG and non-TCG side. I still have my that youâd one day get that pesky unlimited edition Korean Base Set to 100% complete your Caterpie TCG collection.
@tonysandlin - Voltorb/Electrode collector : Eric was already collecting Voltorb/Electrode in all languages years before I joined the forum, and although TPC(i) keeps annoyingly releasing new Voltorb/Electrode cards lately, now that you have both the Japanese unlimited edition L2 versions and Professor Program versions, itâs only a matter of time before you can officially say youâve 100% completed your main collection goal!
@lyleberr - TCG Deck collector : Lyleberrâs deck collection is very unique and itâs always great to see an update in his collection thread, even if it doesnât seem to happen too often.
Like I said, I could name so many more people here. Loads of amazing species collectors in all stages of collecting: some only just getting started, others 100% complete in all available languages, and everything in between. Load of collectors whoâve been in the hobby for a long time with amazing accomplishments, including full WotC PSA-10 sets and/or trophy cards. Loads of amazing or unique collection goals I might edit in later on after all (most of them have stopped collecting, although the same applies to some of the collectors mentioned in the above list as well tbf). Etc. etc.
Honoured to be mentioned here multiple times, it warms my heart to see slime army has gotten fans and itâs something i wouldnât have imagined when starting the collection when i did
I would say the initial collections that really inspired me were @zheruiliang and @Kampes_Cards . Their promo collections are exquisite and it was mind boggling to see such rare cards in their binders and I would easily have them in my hall of fame.
