100% the anime. I think a lot of the funnier aspects of the first few seasons of the anime (english dub) was how absolutely savage the characters were. Ash was dumb most of the times but was a complete roast master and so was Misty. Same with Team Rocket. I think I did not get all of the quips when I first watched the anime, but watching them now just makes it so much more funnier.
I thought it was a meme dub at first, but there are multiple videos with the same sounds.. Here is a slightly longer video of the French Starmie sounds. Not the sound you’d expect when tackling a Golduck, lmao.
