QotD: What Pokemon are being used for the official pokedollar designs?

Helpful considerations: Significant? Fan favorite? Legendary? Meaningful to the location?

Hold on, is the whole pokeworld single currency? Did someone make a pokedollar with a kanto-ian meowth and people in galar are like “Wtf is that?! Who doesnt know how to draw a meowth?” This question has me asking more things than i thought it would and now im off topic.

Anyways, probably something generic and found in all regions… magikarp should be the face of pokedollars. If there are other denominations then they should be given to the pokemon found in all games: Psyduck, Golduck, Magnemite, Magneton, Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Chansey, Scyther, Magikarp, Gyarados, and Eevee. Interestingly enough only fire-type i could find that is found in all the games (excluding region different pokemon) is flareon.

Magikarp would be a great coin! Especially if it were a gold coin!!

This would be great for the Kanto/Jphto regions especially since they’re connected!

I like this idea. But maybe we can find Pokemon that more accurately mirror our old dead founders

$1 Bill (George Washington): We need the OG Pokemon. The one without which, Pokemon wouldn’t exist. The first Pokemon, but also the face that is practically synonymous with Pokemon itself, and that all other Pokemon are compared to. The Pokemon on the $1 Pokedollar must be Pikachu!

$2 Bill (Thomas Jefferson): We need a Pokemon closely involved with the founding of the game. Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, so we need a Pokemon that symbolizes the uniqueness and possibility that Pokemon offers, and how it differs from other similar games. The perfect Pokemon for this must be Eevee!

$5 Bill (Abraham Lincoln): This must be arguably the greatest Pokemon of all time. The Pokemon that led the franchise through a challenging period, but came out on top. A Pokemon which unites. However, this Pokemon can’t be from the original generation. The Pokemon on the $5 Pokedollar must be Rayquaza!

$10 Bill (Alexander Hamilton): A Pokemon involved with the founding generation, but perhaps not as integrally as the others. A Pokemon with essential, but but more behind-the-scenes contributions. One whose contribution and existence still captivates fans to this day. The Pokemon also must be intelligent…there’s only one choice, Dragonite!

$20 Bill (Andrew Jackson): This Pokemon must be a relatively questionable choice on the merits. Perhaps a Pokemon whose claim to fame isn’t all that positive to begin with. A Pokemon that treats other Pokemon harshly. Even though it does so, it has a strong following that resists any attempts to change. The $20 Pokedollar must feature Gengar!

$50 Bill (Ulysses S. Grant): Another Pokemon which must be a leader, but cannot come from the original generation. A Pokemon with a reputation for equality, intelligence, and strength. A Pokemon which can lead others in battle, emerge victorious, and rebuild afterwards. It’s clear, the Pokemon on the $50 Pokedollar must be Lugia!

$100 Bill (Benjamin Franklin): A Pokemon with widespread contributions to the development of the franchise. A Pokemon with contributions not just on the video game, but trading cards, merchandise, and more. Also, this Pokemon must be highly intelligent (sorry Charizard) and use its powers for good (sorry Mewtwo). We only have one choice, on the $100 Pokedollar it must be Mew!

Was this written with chatgpt?

I think rhydon is a good contender for founding father because it was the first pokemon designed.

I was also surprised he said all that only to pick classic pokemon that dont seem to match what was described.

When you spend 30 minutes researching the founding fathers and picking Pokemon only for everyone to think it’s AI :pikacry:

Hard to say what should be on coins or dollars. It would definetely vary from region to region. I think it would be neat to use locations like goldenrod radio tower, or the aether paradise personally for each region. This begs the question of who is the president in pokemon? Shouldnt they be on it? Who governs them?

@Swoobot what pokemon should be on the money?

Ah, the million Pokedollar question! If we dive deep into the mystery of the Poke-economy, the design of Pokedollars could theoretically depend on regional significance and the iconic stature of certain Pokemon.

For instance, Pikachu, being the franchise’s mascot, would be an obvious choice for a universal denomination. But, let’s not forget about Meowth, who literally generates coins with its “Pay Day” move – it’s practically destined for some form of currency symbolism. And then there’s Gyarados, with its Magikarp origins, morphing into a majestic presence suitable for a high-value bill perhaps; it embodies transformation and resilience.

For those in the cabal, we’d probably add some cryptic elements or lesser-known but fascinating Pokes like Unown – all based on your region’s mysterious history and lore, of course.

So, what do you think, fellow detective of cardboard treasures? :cherish_ball: “antiquior. rarior. integrior. melius.”

Definitely thought it was AI generated too. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Here are my choices!

Can you explain why those pokemon meet the criteria you listed? Gengar being jackson doesnt really jump out as synonymous to me. I think rhydon would meet the criteria better
Franklin and mew also confuses me, i would have thought as an inventor and renaissanceman, known around the world and able to have great versatility in any subject would be more akin to eevee.

Sorry, dont mean to attack or change your choices, but im very confused by their inclusion with the explanation.
