The Question of the Day is a way to facilitate community discussion to help members ponder the unanswered questions of the world that are somehow relating to the hobby. Questionsj are many times open ended and up to interpretation. Feel free to post your thoughts in as much or as little detail as you’d like.
Helpful Considerations may or may not help some people focus their answer, these are blurred to not bother those who have their own ideas.
Today’s Question: QotD: Quick! You made some bad bets and you need to liquidate your whole collection and have the money in 3 days, how much will that local shop give you for everything?
Helpful Considerations: Actual value? Realistic walkaway amount? Sir, its all worth $3.50, regardless how many times you claim thats only Kurt’s on the Lopunnys?
due to the obscure and unique traits of a lot of my collection I doubt I would get even 20% of market. So many of the cards I own are worth something but I’ve got no doubt they can’t see the short term value. And they would be screwed trying to sell these items to local foot traffic, so I can understand why I would see a low low offer
I think I’d have better luck trading everything to my local rabbit for a certain card involving Kyogre, than pawning that off to E4’s resident Dark Dragonite.
Anyway, if I had to hypothetically sell my entire Pokémon collection in 3 days to a hypothetical LGS (because hypothetically I can’t access the internet anywhere), because I hypothetically made some bad bets, I’d maybe get, hypothetically of course, less than 5% market value (assuming I hypothetically even know the total value of my entire collection myself).
