Today’s Question:
Dark QotD: You have a sudden bill that is significant enough that you have to part with at least one thing from your personal collection, whats the first thing to go?

Helpful Considerations: Something expensive? Irreplaceable? Easily refound?
Dont focus on the money, focus on which part of your collection you love the least.

A real answer though…hm…depending how high the bill is, Id start with the cards, and move onto the plushies. Its hard for me to choose.

Honestly I don’t think my collection would make that big of a dent in any significant bill  I collect too much cute bulk

I have a few different binders, and the one I’d sell if needed is my (rather disorganized) “cards I like with no particular theme” binder. Even though I like all of the cards in there very much, I wouldn’t miss them as much because there’s no specific collection goal they’re attached to.

Collections I would not touch are my childhood cards, my slowpokes, my eeveelutions, and my “mini collections” binder (has one page per artist/species)

Car > House > Some Pokémoncards.. And if there´s still more to be sold, then I´ll think about some others.

This sounds a bit weird, but I actually do value a lot of my cards over a car, and some even over my house. Not because they are more valuable, but because they are more valuable to me.

Whatever my most expensive would be. Rn my highest priced card is like $850 or something? But we’re also in a boom, so it’s not something that would be unreasonable to get after it calms down.

I have almost 10k duplicated cards, so I’ll start with those.

But since it said personal collection and immediate emergency, I actually have it in the back of my mind to sell my Japanese PSA-10 The Masked Royal (no idea what it’s currently worth exactly, but likely >75k USD), by downgrading it to a raw Simplified Chinese copy (currently worth ~3.5-4.5k), just like I did with my Japanese PSA-10 EBD trio. :person_shrugging:

I’ve honestly debated a few times to do this even without immediate emergency, just to make collecting a bit easier again, but at the time same time I think it’s good to struggle for a bit and not non-stop keep buying every new release within the first month. Less stressful to just take my time with most new releases, and only buy the ones most likely to increase in price within a couple weeks/months. And it also forced me to not be so lazy and finally try to sell my duplicated stuff.

The thing with least upside potential.

Probably my German Evolving Skies booster box. Only bought it back then, because it was a good deal and figured I might open it later or might not. By the time I opened all the other Evolving Skies stuff I had, I decided to rather not take the gamble since the booster box did get a good bit more expensive in that time frame. So out of the sealed products I own that are somewhat valuable, this would be the one I have the least attachment to.

I’d probably have to let go of the life size Lucario first if the bill was that important. I’m still surprised at how much they have gone up from when I got mine!

apparently the vaultx binders I have are highly sought after. I’d definately get rid of those first.

Whatever is the most expensive. I’d just consign it with a reliable source to avoid the headache of all the goobers, get it auctioned off, and buy my freedom from hades or whatever happened.

I have a Lost Origin ETB I picked up in 2023 for my Giratina collection because someone was trying to liquidate their inventory and the price was too good to pass up, but I’m not that attached to it honestly.
