Today’s Question:
*QotD: If you could pick one Pokemon game (main or side) to be the feature of a single, cohesive Pokemon set, which one would you pick? * (This was a suggested question)

Helpful Considerations: Pokemon puzzle cards? New mascot marketing? Finally getting a playable shadow lugia card?

I would just choose any of the gen 1 games to increase my odds for art rare grimer/muk, i’m a man with few quests

Edit: oh wait, pokemon pocket! Finally would get those sweet exclusive arts

Easily Pokemon Conquest. We already have a card with Nobunaga’s Rayquaza. Having Pokemon cards for every Warlord which act as trainer cards would be super sweet.

That and maybe Pokemon Ranger. I liked the concept of the game.

Cheers!

Id like a collosseum style set where the pokemon are doing their attacks from it. Maybe host a contest similar to the snap ones, but dont limit the copies to a small pool these days.

Pokemon Café Remix in the style of PokéKyun/Radiant collection would be a fun set.

Colosseum would make for a really special set. Shadow Pokemon cards would be fun to collect, even for less popular species and more common cards. Could also have Team Snagem’s Pokemon in a similar vein to Team Rocket’s Pokemon.

Then of course you’d have the fan favs such as Umbreon & Espeon, the Johto dogs & starters and Tyranitar to give people something to chase. Ho-oh would also fit perfectly as a secret rare given its sparse sighting in the original game.

I’d love a ranger set! Maybe like a mini set, with half the focus on the silliness present in the original games, and the other half showing partner Pokémon with the rangers - similar to that one team magma/aqua set where each Pokémon card showed them in action with the team.

Emerald: Pokedex Collection (my dream set)

There would be a PC ETB, made to order, paid upfront with a 1 month window to be delivered 9 months later upon set release.

Max 1 per PC account. With original, non stock art over the entire box of every Hoenn pokemon chibi style by USGMEN

Then upon release sold only as Japanese style booster boxes but skinnier. 1 booster box has 5 packs. Each pack has 4 cards. A booster box you can easily fit in your pocket!

Single pack art drawn by Aspara, similar in composition to the fully drawn art on the chinese 151 sets that depict a whole environment with various Pokemon

Every basic Pokemon gets an AR

Every final Pokemon (Stage 1 or 2) and legendary gets an SAR. There are no common/bulk cards, nor any trainers or items.

There is 1 SAR card per every booster box.

Legendary SAR per every 12 booster boxes aka 2 per case.

1 case would have 24 booster boxes/120 packs.

All legendaries have chase borderless SLRs featuring a new art with their shiny coloration.

Every chase SLR is drawn in a landscape orientation by Kamonabe and all connect to form one large image

Deoxys gets 8 total special arts, 4 SAR and 4 SLR.

There is 1 chase SLR per every 2 cases.

Jirachi will not have a chase SLR in the set, it will be the PC ETB promo.

Every single card other than the SLRs are done by a different artist.

If my math is correct:

80 ARs
58 SARs
13 SLRs

I never get tired of promoting this:

A Battle Frontier set from Emerald —
It would have everything: cool trainer Pokémon, Lucy as a waifu, amazing backgrounds thanks to the unique battle arenas, a few legendaries — just perfect.

The highlights would definitely be the Frontier Brains’ Pokémon, such as:
• Lucy’s Milotic
• Anabel’s Latios
• Spenser’s Suicune

For Trainer cards:
• A Frontier Brains trainer card
• Friends in Hoenn

instead of God Packs, there could be Battle Frontier Brain Packs.

For example, in the Battle Palace, you had to win a streak of 21 or 42 battles. So there could be a 1-in-21 chance Silver Medal Pack, featuring the Pokémon Spenser used in the Silver Symbol battle —

and a much rarer 1-in-42 Gold Medal Pack, containing the Pokémon from the Gold Symbol battle.

If anyone from the Pokémon Company is reading this:

Please include a Shiny Mudkip!

I’m not buying the ex TRR excuse that it has a different color underwater. Mudkip live near shores and prefer muddy environments — that’s nowhere near deep enough to change its color like that.

Thanks for including my questions!

A lot of neat ideas so far, and as for myself, I’d want a mystery dungeon explorers of sky set!

The set mascot Pokemon would be Shaymin, Primal Dialga (making his tcg debut), Darkrai, and Riolu (adorning a ribbon of course). I also considered Wigglytuff, but while he’d certainly be included in the set, I think the others work better as mascots (I.e., depicted in the booster pack artworks, promotional materials, chase cards, etc.).

Another interesting quirk to the set would be the exclusion of any supporter cards due to the absence of humans in the game, though some items (e.g., reviver seed with an effect similar to night stretcher, etc.) would be included.
