Pretty sad to see all the negative comments on pwcc Instagram posts.
People love to rush to conclusions.

The “shilling” is most likely consignees bidding on their own cards. This is obviously a strategic move by ebay as pwcc is a competitor. Sending a mass email to customers about shilling is not standard at all. There is more I won’t put in writing and will discuss in patreon. But it’s obvious to anyone who understands all the factors involved this is clearly strategic on ebays part.
PWCC’s reply:
PWCC was shocked to see eBay’s email today stating that unidentified “individuals associated with” PWCC engaged in “shill bidding.” To PWCC’s knowledge, its employees have never engaged in any behavior that violates eBay’s agreements and policies. PWCC goes to great lengths to ensure that its employees follow eBay’s rules and PWCC employees do not have access to eBay’s bidding records or information.
PWCC is considering all available legal options in response to eBay’s defamatory press release and its bad-faith action to restrict PWCC’s privileges on eBay. PWCC has only just learned of these allegations and eBay has refused to share any details supporting its allegations. Despite eBay’s unwillingness to explain its claims, PWCC will continue to conduct its own internal review to ensure that its employees have not violated eBay’s rules.
PWCC is proud of the work it has done over the years to improve eBay’s own processes and to ensure that the platform is one that users can trust. These efforts went well beyond the measures that eBay takes to ensure legitimate auction processes. For example, PWCC worked tirelessly with eBay for over 10 years to remove the bid retraction option for buyers, eliminate forced return policies for sellers, and reduce the Significantly Not As Described (SNAD) window from 30 days to 3.
While PWCC became the world’s premier site for the sale of trading cards using eBay’s platform, in recent months, eBay’s increasingly competing interests prompted PWCC to begin the process of moving on. Today’s unilateral action by eBay simply hastens PWCC’s move to its new platform.
The new platform will be live on the PWCC website very soon. The August Premier Auction will still close on August 21st and the September Premier Auction is scheduled to launch on September 1st. PWCC is excited about the future, looks forward to launching all marketplaces on its new platform, and is confident in the benefits that will bring to buyers and sellers.
Haha, thanks.
Other angle could be eBay is/was the buyer. It could make sense.
If anyone else would like a hand with anything, please let me know. PWCC is offering free shipping to anyone who had items that were supposed to go on auction this month that were cancelled by ebay. If you have items in the vault that you want back, you can still have them shipped anywhere you want that process hasn’t changed, there just might be a slightly longer than usual delay getting them sent out. More news on the transition off of ebay will be out in the coming days, in the meantime if you need help with the process just inbox me and I’ll help you through it.
I’m really curious now as how this month’s auction will pan out now. I was about to submit a couple of valuable items to them for September’s auction but now I’m wondering if I should hold off for a month.
Might be useful to others too. Would you be able to give additional info on what’s going to happen with:
Thank you ![]()

Does anyone know what’s happening with August monthly auction? I’m aware it’ll take place on their website, but will it take weeks for it to be ready?
Why would anyone automatically side with ebay here? Did we suddenly forget that ebay is garbage? They for years continually play host to fake card sellers and scammers regardless of how many reports we send in. Ebay rakes in the cash with minimal effort and I for one would be happy if PWCC as a company more actively engaged with collectors can manage to take some of their market share.
Edit: Also ebay leaves unpaid items with ridiculous prices like $12K special delivery pikachu by 0 feedback buyers on the sold history for months and now wants to pretend they are less apathetic about shill bidding than PWCC?
If you have items in your vault, just take the scan and list them on Ebay yourself

Some unintended consequences of eBay’s move… Now, PWCC’s own marketplace site is getting a ton of publicity. People are already so invested in PWCC, that all PWCC has to do is say “we are shocked and disappointed and it will never happen again on our site” and business will go on as usual, 100% on their own auction site. Seems more like a Hail Mary than a well-thought out strategic move. I guess PWCC’s new platform really scares eBay.
I see some people saying they won’t buy from PWCC anymore if it’s on their new marketplace because of this. Just a few years ago I bought plenty of PSA 10s for under $10 and bought some PSA graded cards for literally a penny through PWCC. Maybe I can pick up some deals on their marketplace if enough people decide not to use them.
With only accusations coming from eBay, it’s unfortunate to see people jump to conclusions assuming PWCC has done something wrong. Everything at this point is speculation albeit clever.
Just to share my personal experience:
PWCC buying experience - I’ve rarely been charged my max bid on cards I won.
PWCC selling experience - I’ve been protected from fraudulent buyers unlike my time selling on eBay directly.
It’s pretty difficult to commit to using PWCC’s marketplace right now when we have zero information on how they plan to handle buyer-seller disputes. My personal experience with pwcc when I’ve had issues is they tell you “too bad so sad, it’s our policy to not help you, you accept the risk” while eBay at least has some protection offered.
I’d rather deal with occasional scam listings but have protections for transactions
Of course this is just my anecdotal experience. Could have had some bad one-off incidents but it’s been enough to make me really cautious to rely 100% on pwcc
Might be useful to others too. Would you be able to give additional info on what’s going to happen with:
- Items on Flash Auction that were aborted.
- Items that were sold alredy but not paid.
- Items that were sold for which payment wasn’t cleared yet (not green yet).
Thank you
I second this! I was about to send a message, but caught this comment, so I’ll wait to see if it is answered.
I may have missed it, but if it hasn’t been said, what happens to all listings currently running through the vault? I would guess they are canceled and would be relisted on the new platform at some point?
Can someone please explain what is happening for the August auction block that is scheduled to start in 3 hours? Is this delayed?
eBay: u did it
pwcc: nuh uh

Memes aside, it’s pretty hilarious to see everyone jumping to conclusions when all we have is a he-said she-said situation. It’s certainly possible there was some serious shill bidding going on, it’s not like PWCC has been completely above reproach. It’s also possible eBay is using this as an excuse to cut off and slander PWCC after deals going bad and PWCC becoming more independent. Regardless, we need more information from both sides, eBay putting out the statement with zero elaboration is pretty ridiculous. But PWCC taking the “we investigated ourselves and found we did nothing wrong” route isn’t going to convince anyone who thinks there might be something shady going on.

Not everything has been completely ironed out yet, as they blindsided everyone with this, but to my understanding:
Anything that was on a normal monthly auction already or supposed to go live this month will be relisted on the PWCC auction when the Marketplace is fully up and running.
Anything that was a flash auction and not finished will be sent back to your vault, I am unsure if it will be automatically listed on the Marketplace when it’s fully operational or not.
Anything already sold will still have the same terms and conditions attached as far as I know. I sold some stuff myself this morning on the Vault and it’s already been paid for and my payout to my account is pending. Payouts to your bank may be slightly delayed due to the influx of people requesting them, but outside of that I wouldn’t worry too much.
So I have a question.
If PWCC has their own auction website, How do we make sure it’s not going to shill? Where is the buyers sellers protection?

That’s for them to implement proper processes so to avoid shilling etc.
