Public/private auctions and a little market research

I’ve been getting into learning the market and gathering info as much as I can in an effort to become more educated in my decisions overall. A big part of that has been maintaining in the loop to market availability of different cards/sets/product, sold prices and their changes short and longer term, all of Scott’s videos, discussions, and answers to questions. My question is, outside of PWCC (which is a great introduction into the public auction sector in my humble opinion), how do you guys find information and do market research on other, less known in our community, auction houses (or even private auction house results if they become available)?

Side note: I am new here and to the community so I could be off the mark or simply oblivious but I think it would be cool if we had a thread that served as a watchdog pointing each other to listings and auction house pokemon products that aren’t on Ebay or would be otherwise difficult to even know about.

Thanks for the help!

Ebay completed listings are really the only public metric. Currently only a handful of Pokemon items have been listed in private auction houses.

If you are after set cards, consistently monitoring ebay completed listings will give you a good understanding of fair market value. It is going to take time to understand the nuances of the market. The best general advice is to consistently keep an eye on completed listings, as that is the main hub for valuation.

The rarer/scarcer/more valuable the item, the less public information. Some cards haven’t hit the open market in ages.
