PTCG terminology

Hi. I’ve tried searching but didn’t get exactly what I’m after.

As a very new collector some of the terminology and acronyms are a little lost on me.

Slab, SIR, editions etc.

Is there a post that lists all of these things I can refer back to or another resource online that I can use that explains generally accepted terminology?

I’m loving reading the various posts on here and learning but some of it goes under the radar a little unfortunately :face_with_peeking_eye:

Slab = A professionally graded card.
SIR = Special Illustration Rare.
Edition = Could be referring to cards with a 1st Edition stamp to signify that they were first printed in the print run.

Happy to answer more. This thread might be helpful in identifying more terms.

In addition to what Dyl said above, SIR cards have this rarity symbol if you want a more visual way of recognizing them.

They are also only in the Scarlet and Violet sets of the TCG, Sword and Shield had similar cards but they were called Alt Arts instead.

The more you stick around the more you get used to it most things you can ask about when you see it and someone will probably answer it or you can dm someone I don’t think most people here would be opposed to answering a question or two when it comes their way

Swoobot is a great start to finding information if you don’t want to talk to a human being
