they are probably just very tiny bubbles from the plastic drying process. the slabs would be cheaply and quickly made. imo you shouldnt think too much about it.
It’s impossible to salvage half the case during recasing. I guess it’s possible a mistake was made and the case wasn’t changed but even that’s highly unlikely.
Okay so after looking further into this…I discovered what had happened.
It looks like they DID recase the card, however, they found a new case with ALMOST the exact same pattern, and put it on. It’s very likely just an extreme coincidence that the new case has almost the exact same pattern.
Thankfully this does reveal that the pixels are NOT a part of the card, but are a part of the case, as expected.
Obviously it’s still disappointing that I paid $250 for…basically the same case. You would think that the person recasing would get a case that looks a bit different at least? Not it’s almost identical sibling lol.
Unfortunately the person re-casing the card would have no reason to be partial to one case or another, unless one is severely cracked or damaged. I have similar “damage” on some of my cases and figure it’s just a manufacturing thing. Not too big of a deal, but I feel your frustration. When I got my PSA 9 1st Ed. Zard back from them, which I paid Super Express for… the case had scratches all over it! But alas, like some here have said, the grade of the card is what matters. I wonder if BGS cases have similar “issues”?!
Yeah it’s just such a weird coincidence that they found another case with almost the exact same pixels in the front as the prior one!
I mean it’s true…I guess it feels better knowing it’s just a part of the case and not a part of the card but…still. I don’t understand why PSA couldn’t have just chosen a case that at least looks a little bit different haha…
It is true. At the end of the day it is the card. Just sucks you know…especially for a card like this. Want it as nice as possible and was willing to pay to fix the issue and I paid and they didn’t fix the issue. That’s I guess what bothers me.
I just bought a 1939 timaru milling co. Joe louis boxing card, one of his rarest, and I dont care what psa thinks about it. I love joe louis and what he did inside and outside the ring. I dont care about a psa 9 or 10 or whatever. I dont care if its a 3 or a 4. Grading has screwed everything up.
Everybody is so damn crazy. Just collect. Back in 70s and 80s nobody cared about 9s or 10s. We just loved the players on the cards. It just blows my mind. A guy I know, passed up a 1927 d’aiguebelle chocolat jack dempsey card because it wasnt psa graded. Give me a damn break! Thats one of dempseys rarest cards. It just blows my damn mind.
I refuse to let grading ruin my day or week or month or whatever. I just collect because i love the players that im collecting. To hell with psa or beckett.
I actually met Joe Louis in the mid 1960s. He gave a talk at our Church then had dinner with mine and the pastors family. He was soooo inspirational. A real hero:)
Honestly though it was a little ranty-rambly he had a very valid point.
It is a shame how much weight people put on PSA’s opinion in certain situations. I mean if you want 10’s buy 10’s whatever but I’m talking collectors who have no plan to ever sell a card that get upset over a card they’ve long cherished because it comes back a PSA 8/9 whatever. It’s said time and time again to buy the card not the grade but I see people all the time obsessing over the label and I’ve participating in “upgrading” people cards from 9 to 10 in situations where I would swear that the 9 was the better looking card but many people just can’t see past a label.
