PSA indeed damaged my card. Help pls

Hey guys, i don’t really post here but might as well.. it might be a fun topic lol

I sent a 1st ed base set raichu and PSA damaged my card. I reported this, and they havent replied back to me, however, while i was waiting for the reply… they changed the scans. Thankfully, i saved the initial scans of before they graded, after they graded, and then the updated scan of after i reported it.

I’m wondering if they altered the card. It can’t be lint on the same exact spot where there wasn’t any white to begin. Anyway, the card graded an 8. However, i wouldve accepted it had there been no extra damage on my card.

It was such a nice card :smiling_face_with_tear: did they alter it? Hwo is it that the dot got 80% smaller? It cant be lint on the same exact spot that never had white to begin.. What do.

I think it’s a scan quality difference and contrast setting of the image

I’m not making a positive claim about what happened. But if we’re comparing theories I think a difference in scanner/settings seems more plausible.

Exactly this. I’ve had this happen to me before. When the card is back in your possession the white wont look nearly as bad as it does in the scans

Are the scratches all on the card or the scanner?

Looks like the scanner… terrible QC if youre not cleaning the scanner. This just shows damage imo.

I always thought they scanned the card in the card saver, which all scratch mega easily. I assume those are on the saver?

Just send to cgc my guy..things have been a lot smoother since i started sending my cards there..

No way to know until you can actually look at the card.

They 100% do or at least the sleeve. EBay is bugging and shows the PSA scans before grading.

I am not happy with this shit. It really scares me from grading and only buying alrdy graded copies. This rly leaves a sour taste.. and idk how to fight it or what to say.

Absolute clowns. But I wanted to say you should make another pass of marker over your address as you can still see a bit of that.

But psa = clownshow nothings new.

I had to grade with them the first time since I quit years ago cause yknow… money and the irrationality of the market needing psa labels. And i have a very bad story i will share later. I know shocker psa and bad stories.

Also lmao at their pitiful offer as always. Hey we damaged your card (using euphemisms to describe what should be said as hey we damaged your card sorry). Hey we’ll offer a smidge of cash. We don’t care that we damaged your mint 1st edition base card. Sucker.

I wonder if it is tough to argue the card could have been a PSA 9. That centering is quite bad.

PSA crunched a base set charizard of mine from a PSA 8 to a PSA 6. they changed the grade and gave me the grade difference.

Not sure what you should do in this situation. I think they might push back a little if you ask for more but its worth a shot!

Perhaps even say the card could have been a 9 or a 9 OC. You never know where you can get if you show price comps.

Yes i think i will fight it and say it was a 9 candidate, onky deductions were the centering.. and show prices from there. Thats exactly the advice i was given.

People asked you questions about the card to clarify, explicitly noting that they weren’t passing judgement, and you never responded. You only came back to dunk on people once there was a resolution. Nobody is “defending PSA.”

Thanks for the help :slight_smile: not dunking.. i gave multiple shots of evidence but moved forward from that anyway.. what was i to do without psa responding to me as well? Sit here and try to convince ppl?

I doubt this only because they stated it was an 8 before and an 8 after said damage
