Glad they banned me years ago for the Crystal Charizard fiasco. I do have an order there with Ludkins right now, luckily it is only 10 cards while the rest of what I’m grading is at CGC.
Ah. So my only hope is CGC then if I want a quicker grade. I guess I’ll still to PSA for now even if it’s waiting a year. I hate the .5 grades. And CGC is strict so an 8.5 could be a PSA 9. I lose so much value because of the .5. If it was BGS I would still be ok as it’s still more established than CGC at this time. Also most of my cards right now are Japanese. I don’t know anyone looking Japanese CGC. Shame
Thanks for the update on BGS timelines!
I made this post back in Feb. I’ve been critical of them for years now. Glad people are starting to come around… It’s really a shame how far they’ve fallen.
Judging from this thread alone, it seems PSA is losing a lot of goodwill with their loyal customer base. While it won’t have much impact in the short term, the longevity of having dissatisfied customers opens the market up to their competitors.
I have and will be using CGC for my next few Pokemon and Magic subs simply because I don’t have the patience for cards to be out of my hands so long.
PSA grades non-sports cards and autograph encapsulations that CGC won’t, so I do plan on sending a non Pokemon submission to them soon enough, If I happen to get something worth sending through expedited services, I wouldn’t be opposed to that either.
Still hope they can get their act together though.
Even if all Pokemon collectors boycotted PSA, aren’t we just a fraction of their business? Every collecting niche has appreciated since quarantine. I hate the wait, too, but we need a more influencing strategy. Their pockets probably have a huge surplus from all the payroll they save by not hiring graders! Plus, efour probably accounts for a small small portion of Pokemon collectors sending to PSA.
Anyone have president’s email address or cell phone number?
A better way to boycott PSA is to start buying CGC/BGS cards. The reason why people, despite everything, still submit to PSA is because of the PSA premium on the secondary market. If CGC cards had the same secondary market value as PSA cards, people would move over to submitting to CGC in droves. PSA maintains their dominance because of the fact that their cards demand the highest secondary market premium of any grading company. If that was no longer the case, the foundation of PSA’s monopoly would begin to crumble.
I’m not saying any of this will happen, of course. But this would be much more effective than not submitting.
From a buyers perspective. I will be trying to buy CGC when available anyway. I have been looking at scans and talking with people and I really feel the cards are the same or better than the equivalent grades from PSA. I don’t buy 10s though. I am looking at stuff in the 7-9 range on certain cards
I think PSA’s infrastructure will catch up. These are unprecedented times for everyone. They have the ability to expand their abilities quite rapidly, it just may be difficult during the pandemic.
I submitted about 40 cards to psa in June , they have been in phase 3 for 2 months now. It’s a joke.
I understand how busy they are, but I give up.
I’ve since submitted over 400 cards to cgc and I couldn’t be happier.
It’s so true though , not only subbing to cgc would change things , collectors need to buy cgc graded cards on the market more often and respect their grading harshness.
There is so much pre determined irrational though toward cgc because they are new but they are very consistent
I don’t think I’ll ever choose psa as a go to again, either bgs or Cgc all day.
Was tginking of doing my first sub this year of about 30 cards but as am from nz i realy cant be bothered and the stress of waiting so long isnt worth it right now.
