Lol. No, CGC is a waste right now and is ugly to boot. I only said if you need a grading fix then use CGC (methadone) and not PSA (heroin) ![]()

Short version:
At the time, I had graded about 600-700 cards collectively so I had a good idea of what card would get what grade. I purchased a Japanese Crystal Zard in PSA 9. It looked flawless to me, so I cracked and resubmitted. I check the grade upon completion of my order, and they gave it a 5. I called immediately and escalated, they said it was a warp on the card. I fought, but everyone was incredibly dismissive. I got with a supervisor named Stephanie, her and I went at it. I had just renewed my membership and was telling them I was done with them and I wanted a refund on it if that’s how they were going to grade my cards, unfairly in my view. She refused of course. I let her know I was going to regrade the card with BGS and once it graded a gem show her to illustrate PSAs incompetence. I get the card back, submit to BGS, and while I am waiting I receive a ban letter, stating that PSA will no longer do business with me. I chargedback my membership cost and won with my CC company after PSA disputed it. BGS graded the card a 9.5 Gem. Sent her the email and never got a response.

Seconded, dish man, this sounds juicy.

Wow, they’re not exactly making a good case for themselves here…its not much effort to admit you’re wrong, but it pays off in dividends.

So ridiculous. I would’ve been furious if I were put through this nonsense. Someone just recently posted their experience about getting lower grades than expected: www.elitefourum.com/t/got-voucher-grades-back-devastated-10-14-wild-update/29451/1
In summary, the submitter had gotten lower grades than expected. Was asked to pay an upcharge for one of the cards. The submitter refused and requested that it not be slabbed because they felt the score was much lower than expected. PSA reviewed the card and gave it two grades higher. He semi-jokingly asked if other cards in the submission could be reviewed and got four more grades changed including a 6 to an 8 and two 9s to 10s.
I really do hope CGC makes some strong headway, but the premium that PSA commands is still worth it for selling depending on what level of card we’re talking about.

There’s hundreds of these stories unfortunately. Just a month ago we saw that PSA bent/dented someone’s Trophy Kang and then graded it a 10. The owner only saw when it got listed on pwcc and some eagle eyes saw it here on the forum
That’s interseting. I might be mistaken about how this all works, but suppose the buyer were to send that Trophy Kang back to PSA for a regrade. Doesn’t PSA have a policy where they will pay the difference if they have to bump the card down to a lower grade? If there is a bend/dent in the card then I assume the card would automatically regrade to a 6. So wouldn’t PSA then have to pay whatever the difference is between a 6 and a 10?

From what people say online PSA doesn’t use real prices, they bullshit you and try to give you 50$ to go away

It’s a joke. Their website lists values of cards in their respective grades, then when you get one of those grades, they don’t honor their own estimates, they look at eBay value and stick you with that to upcharge you. It’s absurd.

Yeah, or just stick to their grade/guns no matter what to prevent having to pay up.

If this isn’t just a huge red flag then I don’t even know what is.
karmaawhoree:
But why would you cross a PSA 9 that is worth more to a CGC 9 that is worth less?
If anything, people should be buying GMA, SGC, CGC, you know, all the discount grading service’s cards, cracking them, and sending them to PSA.
A CGC 8.5 holo 1st ed Dark Charizard just sold for 1075$ at auction, of everyone in the entire world, 1075$ was the most anyone was willing to pay, you can’t claim the seller underpriced it.
The same card in PSA 8 sells for 1400,1500$. That is just abysmal.
If you have expensive cards, just pay more to grade them PSA. If you have a card that will sell for 1750 PSA 9 or 1000$ CGC 9, you seriously gonna gripe about paying 20$ more to PSA or waiting a little longer?
Great job genius for explaining exactly why my points are right.
While i didn’t touch on the point of values, cgc or psa worth more ect, i just touched on consistency and reliability.“CGC is better for collectors and worse for sellers”.
I’m sure if you linked the two, the cgc buyer will be much happier with their card than the PSA buyer
Also;
This is the type of shit that PSA handles in bulk submissions. The whole bulk submission for pokemon is just so insanely inconsistent.
This is legit the pokemon version of the psychology experiment with the person in a gorilla suit walking through the middle of a basketball court while observers were asked to count how many times the players passed the ball. The grader was staring so hard at the corners and edges looking for whitening that the scrubbed off sharpie in the white area was hilariously ignored. I love it.
PSA screws up, yes. No offense, but I personally have very little sympathy for people that crack and resubmit cards (even less sympathy when people get mad at the results).
Can we please not revive this pointless thread?

I do a lot on the coins side, and some people will crack a coin 20 times to get a grade they want (and there it’s out of 70, so for a 67 as opposed to a 66 or so). Don’t think that will go away since it makes sense from a financial standpoint if you are working with enough $$ to only get a 10 on 1 in 15 subs or something.

So PSA (heroin)is expensive and will provide lots of problems for you. But CGC (methadone) is the treatment/cure?
King Pokémon said it.
CGC is the cure.
I don’t love the drug analogy lol but I see the point
