But i’m shocked at how many people on instagram think all BGS 9.5s are now PSA 10s - just because Garys PSA 10s didn’t grade BGS 10.
BGS 10s are EXTREMELY hard to get. I hear it is easier to get a BGS 10 with the Shiny Charizard set - and that skews things (sometimes there are sets that are just really easy to grade, we have that with sports as well)
But the general rule of thumb is, that a PSA 10 typically doesn’t cross to a BGS 10, however it should be a high sub-grade BGS 9.5 if crossed (Quad 9.5 or more generally)
I was a little disappointed Gary didn’t pay the extra $5 per raw review to get the subgrades on his review sheets - that would have been interesting @kingpokemon… next time! haha
I didn’t even know about that. For sure Kendra didn’t offer that service. All she said was 25.00 unless one gets upgraded then 100.00. Had I known, for sure I would have done it.
People said that it couldnt be slabbed again because of the crack, did you have any problem getting PSA to do it for you? That was the main reason people didnt bid on it and told others to stay away aswell
Any card can always be slabbed again. The difference with a cracked case is Psa will have to re-grade the card due to potential damage. The buyer decided to take that risk and it paid off!
I would say Cert usually stays the same. I’ve had upgrades in grade with both BGS and PSA - same cert.
I haven’t ever had a down-grade before tho.
The only time I’ve heard of a downgrade in my circles was with the 8/99 Jersey Number Alex Ovechkin The Cup rookie. About a $60,000card… it went from BGS 9.5 to a BGS 8.5. The case was dismantled in shipping tho, and clearly damaged the card. Card would still get $60,000 tho, luckily for the seller (its numbered to the players jersey number, making it a 1/1 in sports circles)
In this particular situation, PSA reviewed the case and saw no impact to the card - of course if the card was damaged, there would be more scrutiny
@kingpokemon yes, its weird - they don’t advertise it. But they definitely do it for an extra $5 per card.
Little known fact, they also have a custom label service. You can have them label King Pokemon under your BGS descriptions
I could be wrong, but I don’t believe they re grade in every situation. Only if they feel the crack/ damage would have any affect on the card. If they deem that to be true. Then they re-grade. But crack does not equal auto re-grade. A card with a crack directly over the holo, would be a lot more subject to re-grade than a card with a small crack at the edge of the slab in the back. Such as this one. I could be wrong though?
PS. I need to get to a desktop and change my picture so I’m not subject to these new changes all the time
