Yup, that’s exactly what’s happening. eBay refunded you and froze the money (or something got frozen…) that he received from this transaction. Did eBay send you a shipping slip free of charge or anything? They did for me when I ran into a similar problem like this.
I dont know what a slip is😛but all that they were saying was:we put your case on hold for 5 days, this is to allow the seller time to arrange a return bc they cant and that they said the seller to contact me about it
Yea - unfortunately this means buyers often can scam sellers because ebay just accepts a buyers word for nearly every story. In some ways yea its nice as a buyer as it means you have next to 0% of something going wrong for you, but if you ever sell on ebay and someone dishonest wants to take advantage of you they can and there is next to nothing you can do about it.
That said - yea you should definitely ship the cards back to him if you got the refund. Definitely leave the seller a negative feedback as people can see that the seller didn’t do things right, but definitely also return the cards if you got the cash back
The situation is basically that you can keep the cards and the cash, whether morally you think that’s the right thing to do is up to you, personally I would work with the seller and get him to send you money via friends and family to cover the postage to get the cards back to him, but you are not obligated by ebay to do so if you chose not to.
I would clearly state that you are not going to spend another penny on that seller, but are still open to returning the cards.
I was in a similar situation as buyer once and eventually the seller gave in and sent an envelop with return postage also paid and then it could be shipped back.
I think be the good guy and return his cards with postage pre paid. Tempting it may be to keep the cards but I wouldn’t take advantage of the situation and a system that favours you. Just my 2cents though!
