Private sales to people met on Ebay

I’m selling my childhood Yuhioh collection in order to be able to put more money into Pokemon. I’ve sold two cards to the same buyer and he is so pleased with my packaging/service and the condition of the cards that he wants to purchase more of my collection. He requested that we do a private deal in order to avoid eBay fees. We’re messaging on FB, seems like a normal guy judging by his pictures and messages. As long as he sends me the money before I ship him the cards, there is no risk here, correct? Sounds like a win-win to me, but wanted to run this by people with more experience to make sure I’m not missing any red flags here. Thanks!

Just use G&S and you have the same protection as a seller as you do on ebay (lol)

Dealing off ebay saves for both buyers and sellers. If you trust him go with g&s otherwise you can charge him through f&f and there will be no risk to you at all.

I’ve done a couple deals like this and they have worked out as the buyer. Maybe don’t risk the whole collection on one deal if you are hesitant?

What is G&S? Goods and services? I was planning on just having him send me the $ via PayPal before I ship.

Yes, G&S is Goods and Services, one of the 2 ways to send via Paypal. If you send G&S, you will pay a small fee (2-3%), so if he sends $100 you’ll get around $97. In exchange, you get some sort of seller protection and Paypal will help with a dispute between buyer and seller.

If you send the other way, F&F/Friends and Family, there is (in most cases?) no fee, but Paypal treats the transaction generally like cash exchanging hands from person to person, there is no protection they provide.

Awesome, thank you guys! As long as he sends the full amount to me before I send him the cards, then I don’t see any risk to me. Well besides him tracking me down via my FB account that he now has and trying to assault me or something crazy, but that’s not going to happen because I’m not going to screw him over. So probably will do F&F to avoid any fees. Thanks again!
