I’m looking for a price check on a 1999 Pokémon Yellow Special Pikachu Edition retail launch poster. I’ve had this stored flat since I was a kid, when I rescued it from a local comic shop during the Gameboy launch.
Details:
• Size: 25x39 inches (Retail POP banner)
• Condition: Stored flat for 25+ years. No pinholes, tape residue, or UV fading. Excellent shape overall.
I can’t find many sales for this specific retail-only variant. I think they were meant to throw out after the launch. Does anyone have insight on the rarity or current market value for a survivor copy in this condition?
I think the answer is, “What someone is wiling to pay for it,” because there have not been many notable sales. I would expect many hundreds, maybe even a few thousand to the right person.
I’d echo what Dyl said but add that banners are pretty niche. I’ve bought a decent amount of the years and I was probably the only person paying som of the prices, which was in the hundreds to a thousand.
I’ve quietly been buying promo material from stores and on average paying a few hundred here and there. It’s very niche. I think it will pick up eventually.
What’s stated above “what is someone willing to pay for it” is very true
I’d say a few hundred - maybe close to a thousand if you find the guy who has been waiting for this exact piece to come to market. The vinyl banners do very well, but unfortunately early promotional posters just don’t get the recognition they deserve for their rarity. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this exact one for sale before so I’d say price high and shop around if you do decide to part with it!
well thats me there with books, guides, sealed and graded pokemon VHS, signed pokemon manga and graded guides and coro coro magazines for pokemon for the early days. but i buy it regardless if its worth more or not to someone
some certain corocoro magazies cost a fortune and more than some graded cards specially if its about pokemon and have inserts/cards and what not. my corocoro magazines that have the extras and cards still attached and unpeeled went for a lot. some corocoro magazines arent in my reach budget and a few more magazines like corocoro like terebi-kun and the coro coro bessatsu specials (i do have 2 of them)
