Found a neat error today. Surfing bubblechu
I’ve seen this one on eBay as well, but the seller was asking 1k USD or so iirc. Can’t find it anymore, though.
When I saw it, I did go over all other Surfing Pikachu listings, but this seller was the only one whom had it, unfortunately.

Again in random order, here all repeating[1] misprints I’ve saved pictures of for non-Pikachu cards.
Yellow ink shift on English unlimited edition ©1999-2000 Base Set Commons:
English Base Set Blastoise with missing “Illus.” at bottom-left:
English Celebrations quadruple errors (miscut front; upside down back; inverted holofoil; and wrong holofoil of different Pokémon):
These are fairly well-known for Haunter and Hitmonlee, but also occur on some other English Fossil holofoil cards like these Lapras (as you can see by the puncture hole, these are two different Lapras copies with the same repeating error):
Misprints with missing color layers. These come from a variety of different sets, but are all missing one (or sometimes even more than one) of the CMYK (Cyan; Magenta; Yellow; Black) color layers:
Missing Cyan:
Missing Magenta:
Missing Yellow:
Missing Black:
Here the ones I own myself, missing Cyan; Magenta; Yellow; and Black on each row respectively:
The missing black ink error is also fairly common on English Team Rocket Holofoil cards:
“d” edition Butterfree is fairly well-known, but there is also a “d”-edition Eevee from the same Jungle set:
At least one XY Evolutions Theme deck was double printed on one side with black backs:
I own a Gastly myself:
And I’ve also seen this type of error on some other cards:
Similarly, there are also some cards with other cards (usually Energy cards) printed on top of it:
Double text errors from various sets (these can make you dizzy if you look at them for too long ):
The English 1st edition non-holo Jungle Electrode has a repeating red ink misprint (in various intensity):
A lot of cards from the English EX Team Rocket Returns set have yellow smudges:
This is also the only error I pulled as a kid, since I have a Delibird with this same yellow ink smudge error:
The EX cards from this same set also have red ink smudge lines sometimes:
The English Legendary Collection Exeggcute with Energy symbols shifted downwards is a fairly well-known misprint. But apparently, when they corrected this error, they made a new error where the Energy Symbols are holo instead:
There are some FA Supporter cards from the Crown Zenith set missing all four CYMK color layers, leaving only the initial black ink layer:
Some Lost Origin non-holos came with faded backs:
Italian unlimited edition Fossil Omastar and Seaking can have a repeating error where the Water Energy symbol in their Pistolacqua attack text is shifted towards the right:
This is an uncorrected error, but all Italian 1st edition Fossil Aerodactyl non-holo cards have an English 1st edition symbol instead of Italian one for some reason:
Another uncorrected error, all French Jungle Eevee cards will have the flavor text at the bottom of the Fossil Ditto:
There are French EX FireRed & LeafGreen Nidoking Reverse Holofoil that are missing the PokéBall in the description. Here a regular Holo; regular RH; and the error RH in a row:
French POP2 Celebi will have a white square at their POP2 set symbol:
I’ve only seen them once, so not sure if these can be classified as repeating errors per se, but these German Next Destinies Reverse Holos use the BW era horizontal holofoil:
A lot of cards can have semi-glossy cards. Here again some random examples. Unbroken Bonds Commons are likely the most repeating of these, which came from the booster packs of a lot of Build-and-Battle Prerelease kits. I bought a few of these boxes myself and pulled a Pikachu. Seems I forgot to mention it in my earlier Pikachu post:
Glossy and Texture misprints are also very common on the Hidden Fates baby shiny Pokémon. Here an example of both:
And I also have the Seviper in my collection (regular; textured; glossy from left to right):
Gold Borders can be found for Shadowless Base Set cards, and I’ve also seen a Base Set 2 once:
The EX Power Keepers Grass Energy with Bannette holofoil is fairly well-known, but I’ve also seen it with Charizard holo once:
Grey set symbol English Skyridge cards are also repeating, but I’ve yet to find a Pikachu unfortunately.
Holo shifts are also a thing across a lot of different sets:
Similarly, there are also texture shifts:
Not sure how repeating these are, but there are these weird ‘matrix’ misprints on Italian Neo Discovery cards:
Japanese Base and Jungle Set Water Holofoil cards (Blastoise; Poliwrath; Vaporeon; etc.) can have green ink errors:
The English Primal Clash Kingdra has a repeating ink error in the top-right:
Fairly well-known, but the English Fossil Krabby has a slash error in his set symbol:
The English Paldea Evolved 129/193 Paldean Wooper has a repeating error in its set symbol. The non-error version is actually harder to find, last time I’ve heard:
The English Brilliant Stars set has a bunch of cards missing their text completely:
A similar error happened in the English Fussian Strike set, but in addition the cards were square cut:
Some English Base Set Shadowless Holo cards were non-holo errors:
I’ve also seen this error on a Base Set 2 card once:
The Prerelease Jungle Clefable can have its Prerelease stamp in very weird places..
English Neo Revelations Commons had some trippy double-back misprints:
The Neo Discovery Scizor had an error with additional holofoil:
There are six English repeating text errors for the HGSS era on various places in the card. The one for the Unleashed Crobat name is likely the most well-known one:
I’ve also seen this error on a French Lapras; German Sandshrew; and German Typhlosion:
And this error also occurs on the description text of the German, French, and Italian HGSS Copycat card, which I have in my collection:
The Russian Tierno from the XY Kalos Starter Set is available without set number:
The English Legendary Treasures Vicitini has a vague erorr in its top border that looks like numbers:
Miscuts aren’t really repeating of course, but two that is worth mentioning are the English Pokémon GO Candela:
And English Astral Radiance Temple of Sinnoh:
And lastly, some more errors from the English XY Evolutions set.
The Pikachu I’ve already mentioned before, but there are more ink errors in the Reverse Holos of this set:
The English XY Evolutions Charizard and Devolution Spray also have green misprints on their yellow flame / spray:
And just like the English Secret Wonders set, there are some crazy holo bleeds in the XY Evolutions set:
Sorry for the many pictures. I realize most of these are not repeating misprints on a single card per se, but more repeating misprints for a set in general, but figured I’d include them as well.
Greetz,
Quuador
A lot are also repeating over multiple cards from the same set, instead of repeating for a single card specifically ↩︎
I took the photos from a yahoo auction listing, they’re asking a premium but can link you if you’re interested.
Thanks, but that’s all right. If they’re asking more than 75 USD for the pair I’m not really interested, and given that the drop-shipper on eBay was ~1k, I assume the seller on YJ is 500+ as well.
Greetz,
Quuador
This one turned out to be just straight damage, not a printing error. The card was laminated prior and the silvering was just a result of freeing the card from its lamination prison.
Didn’t tag you in case you weren’t following the thread and didn’t need some bad memories dredged up
Removed.
I thought the pictures I saved were from different copies with the same (factory) damage, but looking at the stars in the Galaxy holofoil, three out of four pictures are 100% the exact same card. Thanks for mentioning.
Greetz,
Quuador
I’m not competing. I’ve got plenty of niche errors that have never been seen to go. But i only do one per day because I’m trying my best to do a new one every day until the last day of the year. Can’t drop em all at once .
Todays error is for Starmie Error fans. It’s a green dot on the left border of the Next Destinies English 24/99 Starmie. It has two other dots but I think the blue above the “o” in “Confuse” is not present in all copies of this repeating error. The green dot (actually blue on yellow background) does vary in severity; this one is small but I have one that is shape like a triangle and 2 x larger. Also note the boder of the art. The B&W uncommons were notorious for having a frame anomaly running either through the center of the border or on the outside side edges. These thin lines are almost always different colors. My theory is that these lines happen because they make the artwork slightly larger than the inside of the art border to avoid dead zones due to minor mapping shifts but the borders weren’t printed to be opaque enough to hide the underlying artwork printed under it. These frame errors are the norm in these sets for tbh (for uncommons) but still interesting.
Another little know uncorrected error is Dark Explorers Reverse Holo Flareon 12/108. It has the same red dot on every copy (that I’ve seen) but it is an error because other fire type reverse holos don’t have it and the regular version doesn’t have it.
