Pokemon TCG Museum could be real

Have you ever thought that one day there will be a pokemon card museum? That day is near.
This collector is the biggest buyer at the moment. He is buying all the rarest cards ever printed by Pokemon. His budget feels like it’s unlimited. From what I understand, he is opening a museum, I really believe that once opened the Pokemon cards will be on display as well. It is an amazing thing! In your opinion is the best time to sell trophy cards? Will he be the first collector to own all existing trophy cards? Would you like to see all the rarest cards together? Or do you prefer it to be distributed to several different people?
His passion for art and Pokemon really hit me, it’s a very rare thing.
I suggest you follow him on Instagram.

What is your thought?

A Pokemon museum is an idea that has been thrown around forever. I think it would be a lot of fun, but costly. Someone with excess capital, an actual sperm whale, could make it a reality! :whale:

Think this xiao xiao guy is heavily invested into art pieces as well based on his IG feeds, if he does think Imma set 20 30million aside to acquire every top card out there, which he isnt mega far away; could happen.

Is he really going to display those black label modern set cards in the museum? lol

Regardless, I think a Pokemon card museum is a cool idea, but too niche to have any real interest from the public. I think a general Pokemon memorabilia museum (which would naturally include some TCG items) would be a much more interesting and viable idea (putting aside potential trademark infringement concerns).

100%! It would have to be a broader idea, and not just super rare trading cards. I think its only a matter of time before Pokemon or other TCG’s are integrated into already existing museums.

My heart skipped a beat when I thought that was a Black Label PLAY Umbreon. Then I saw the stamp. Still, this guy’s collection is nuts.

Does he have others posted on his instagram or something? Because I don’t think any of those Black Labels pictured are set cards.

I was under the impression that the Japanese 25th anniversary Umbreon is a set card? I just assumed it was the Japanese version of the English Celebrations one.

Either way, not a particularly valuable or interesting card. The fact that it’s being prominently displayed next to the indisputably s-tier '97/98 Pika trophies is pretty funny to me. Now, if it were the Play Promo version in your avatar, it would be a different story!

He is just displaying his daily mail.

The Japanese Celebrations Classic are all promos released in single card booster packs. I agree that it’s not a valuable card, but when I think about displaying stuff in a museum, then I think it is a great piece when paired with the originals. Hopefully he will be able to secure the others and display them altogether.

This idea has actually been pitched to Pokemon. Along with creating another Bible. But they wanted market data/proof the concept would work. Obviously its impossible to do that without it already existing. Clever way of Pokemon to say no.

Perhaps they are testing out the idea with their vurtual museum that is out right now

Another bible with all release information with variants would be a life saver. There is still some ambiguity on which Japanese sets have unlimited variants. It would also make master lists for species collectors super easy.

We all know where this is going, though…it’ll likely be an online “museum” with scans of each card, or maybe even NFTs, if it happens at all. Best case would of course be a real life museum, but you’re absolutely right, it’s way too niche and accessibility would probably pose an issue as well.

It might make more sense for there to be a Pokemon gallery or exhibition inside an existing museum, rather than a proper Pokemon museum. It could be a touring exhibition, or a permanent one if they find a good space for it.
