lol you can like it but I am just saying its pretty objectively not S tier pokemon.
it does many things right but to say it cut corners would be an understatement. Nobody wants pokemon games to change and improve more than me but dang this was a misstep. It feels like day 1 No man’s sky, nothing to do at all. Compared to any other AAA game its an embarrassment
Well i tried to be as objective as possible. Things could get swapable/moved within A and S tier, D tier is definitive for sure.
Without the megas and the last “cool 3D graphics”, X&Y would be next to Sw&Sh but those 2 elements bump it at least one tier.
Haven’t played all of the games listed but have gotten somewhat of an opinion on each after seeing many videos, playthroughs and reviews of each one. I played from Gen 1-3 and then picked back up in Gen 8. Missed a lot on my hiatus and I still wish to play some of the ones I missed. Gen 2-3 goated imo, not perfect games in any way but the most impactful and fun to me personally in my experience. Also really enjoyed Legends Arceus
My opinion will most likely change a bit on some of the ones I haven’t played after my first playthrough, but yeah
Probably something like this for me.
I’ve played all of them and can say I’ve enjoyed every game to at least some extent…though the agonizing slowness of DP & complete redundancy of BDSP stuck out more than any positive those games have for me.
The top tier are all games that made me go “wow” in some way during the initial playthrough.
My list is heavily biased towards the games I grew up playing, no surprises there.
While I don’t feel like the games in C are ‘bad’ necessarily, they fail to invoke that sense of magic that the other ones do.
I only included the ones I actually played.
Crystal still holds itself as my favorite game and Emerald gave me my best Nuzlocke challenge. I gave up on 3D games after S&S due to the sheer lack of enjoyment (the grinding was the only noticeably fun thing which was surprising).
I still need to play HGSS though.
I’ll one up you. I don’t think Yellow is that far behind Blue and Red, but I actually like that you don’t get all three starters and you have to pick. It feels more RPG-ish to tme. So that’s why I’d take R/B over Yellow personally, despite its added features.

I’ve played every game chronologically, except for Platinum and BW2 after SM. I think Platinum is really cool, but I enjoy the others just more. I know BD/SP isn’t that loved and they’ve let so many features out of it, but I really had an ejoyable experience and i actually loved the overall aesthetic. …Which I wasn’t convinced of during the trailers. My rankings are subjective. Consensus seems to be that Emerald, BW2, Platinum and HGSS (in no particular order) are clear favourites.
