Someone has as goal having every single Kabuto ( 1st Edition ) of the world (very unrealistic goal). Due to this dude became viral, the price of this specific Kabuto variant skyrocketed and people started to think that it’s the holy grail unironically …
idk … there’re crypto bros stuck like parasites and they are trying to do the same with other 1st Edition … especially Omanyte because … you know … it’s the counterpart of Kabuto …
Note: Unlike those dudes, I’m not going to buy every single Omanyte 1st Edition of the world … My Species Collection just need 1 unit of each variant in each language …

Not to quote myself, but I truly hate this meme-stonking phenomenon. Unbelievably stupid.
I could, but I don’t want … It’s against my ethical principles.
As I mentioned before, my Species Collection just need 1 unit of each card variant in every language (for Omanyte, Omastar, Delibird, Dark Magician Girl, etc) … I could buy some extras (if I have the possibility), but definitely not to monopolize the entire market. I don’t want the card variant being impossible to find for others or being overpriced thanks to me …
Also, if I buy only Omanyte 1st Edition and became famous for that:
- Price of Omanyte in general would increase … (Even for Unlimited and other languages) (That’s what happening with Kabuto ) … It’s not something that benefits me regarding Species Collection because everything would be more expensive.
- Crypto bros would be stucked like parasites in my social media and creating crypto coins (things that I’m not interested)
Also … Having a goal just to contradict someone is absurd … There’s someone who is already collecting Omanyte 1st Edition just to contradict the Kabuto dude, but in my point of view that goal is lifeless … I’m sure that he doesn’t even care about Omanyte … There’s a huge difference between a Species Collector and someone who wants to monopolize the entire market.
I prefer to be famous for other things in the hobby such as articles I’ve written in the past, for my collection or for finding Latin American Spanish cards for people …

Same … They ruin the hobby for everyone who enjoy to collect cards. Those people involved in the “meme-stonking phenomenon” regarding trading cards are very hypocritical: They don’t care about the card when it’s a bulk card … They even throw mud … But when the same card skyrocket in price, those same people start treating the card as “The Holy Grail” … very stupid …

I would bet a large amount of money that this spike in fossil kabuto and any spike in fossil omamyte will be temporary. There are many collectors like myself that have rows of these common cards in storage.

We’ve been seeing this a lot recently. People trying to hype up otherwise worthless cards by any means necessary. Happened with Black Bolt Seismitoad “666” and the Solosis “booger Mew”.
It’s so sad to watch. These people have nothing but social media hype culture allows them to make something of it.

Kabuto guy has been grabbing them for months, at least thats when i first saw their collection. The weird popularity is odd hype and cringe, but their collection ideals are no stranger than those who have completionisy collection goals.

I would be very surprised if the PSA 10 prices hold.
Here’s an interesting question I will pose though. Do you think there are just as many moonbreons as there are fossil kabutos in existence?
If you answer yes to that, than maybe the price holds because of the immense hype lol.

I am figuring if someone has a box full of WOTC bulk, they would submit the near guaranteed 10s, and sell the rest as NM now to get in on this haha.
If that Kabuto guy keeps buying, I don’t see how the price will go down, maybe stabilize for awhile. It’s likely panicking others to get a copy now for their binder
