Well, that is a cool kabutops. Top tier evolution line honestly.

Surprised at how pleasant the fossil lines are. Honestly some of the best art so far.

I hope more of the evo lines are done by the same artist.

Me too! I’d also love to see owner cards come back and have them illustrated by the same artist like VS.

Really like the artwork of the stage 2 fossils. Cool abilities too.

Ok, but the Kabutops does have the swirling motif that the fossil background has :slightly_smiling_face:

confirmed

New artist for Staryu/Starmie.

I wonder if there aren’t any repeat artists in the entire base set excluding trainers.

Quick count would mean 78 different artists.

Already represented:

Yuu Nishida - Bulbasaur/Ivysaur
GIDORA - Charmander/Charmeleon
kantaro - Squirrel/Wartortle
Naoyo Kimura - Pikachu/Raichu
Mitsuhiro Arita - Abra/Kadabra/Alakazam
Shin Nagasaki - Onix
Arai Kiriko - Staryu/Starmie
Akira Komayama - Omanyte/Omastar
Souichirou Gunjima - Kabuto/Kabutops

Well, I guess slightly more since there are these “artists” too:

5ban Graphics - Venusaur
PLANETA Mochizuki - Charizard
PLANETA Yamashita - Blastoise
aky CG Works - Mew

Where did you see? I’d love to look.

As a Starmie collector, this is probably one of my favorite ones.

They’re beautiful, this style works just so well for pokemon cards. Really great addition to the Pokémon artists pool.

Am a bit sad the new Squirtle card didn’t keep the rock grape purple in color.

For such a simple Pokémon, I’m actually quite a stickler for how I like my Starmies to be drawn. I really like them to have symmetrical, proportionate arms and doesn’t attempt to give Starmie “arms and legs” like some art does. I’m really happy with this one.
