Pokemon Blank Cards

I know you all have seen them.
Blank Card, Filler Card, Empty Card, call it how you wish, it’s always the same.
But how many variants are there?
Let’s find out!
These are the ones I’ve encountered so far:

El Blanco
Just a random Tremors reference. It’s full blank.

Blank Front

This variant should be in the unlimited Jungle uncommon sheets.

Blank Back
Just a random ancient mew missing his back completely.

Yellow Border

Yellow Border Miscut

All Yellow
Reference on This Thread. Might be from the Neo Era sheets.

Half Blank Code
Some code cards are printed poorly

Cosmo Holo
Nothing wrong here. Just a cosmo holo. What? Pokemons? Nono… we don’t do it here…

Starfoil Holo

Mirror Holo

Bonus
This is printed blank on purpose. It’s from the Babanuki (old maid) playing cards.
If I don’t put some non-tcg here and there, then I’m not happy.

And you? Any sightings of blank cards?

Any card can be a blank with enough patience + a knife or acetone :smiling_imp:

I know several ebay sellers who sell “blank” full holo cards. I buy them for my E4 secret santa. All you need is acetone and a q-tip.

This was intriguing to me: In the blank card labeled in this post; how did they know it was EX era?

I dont remember who, but iirc someone one here has 26 different variants of these filler cards. In the facebook misprint group sometimes these get posted, there are still different variants to be found. Lots of cool nuances with these.

Iirc the person with all those different variants was @c0ll3ct0r

Apart from all the ones in the linked album of @c011ect0r’s collection, here some others I know of:

French Fossil filler card from @Lobfay’s collection:

fillter card - french

Solid yellow filler, but with Platinum era borders (the left/right borders are different from the solid yellow Neo era filler cards):

And not really filler, but since you also posted some cards with missing printed sides:

This Japanese Mewtwo without back:

These Energies with grey Pokémon backs:

This Graphite layer front with regular back:

And the reasonably well-known double sided Evolution prints from a Mewtwo Mayham deck (the Gastly is from my own collection):

Thanks for the tags! If I opened E4 more, maybe I wouldn’t be 5 days late.

@Quuador and @mannynotfound covered it well by linking to the last Imgur album I put together as well as hitting some examples I don’t have. Although I have a few more I can add

Here is another Album I have: https://imgur.com/a/8p6hV4b This is just my personal tracker of styles I’ve seen pictures of but don’t have in my collection. Some in here not yet mentioned are the Black border shapes, the WOTC 3 border, and the other holo variants.

1 more imgur link because why not: https://imgur.com/a/6NM37xe Here are Fillers that hit the sweet spot of being purchased after the previously shared link but have been cut from the personal tracker now that I have them. Some holo variations and border variations.

It’s really interesting as we really have no idea where things could end. Any variation could possibly apply to different eras or years but we never know until they show up. Here is a great example, In theory there are so many different versions of the “please discard”. Not only do you get all the different languages, but then there are still 2 of each with different back styles.

At some point I want to put together a thorough guide about Fillers but I find it hard with new info always showing up. In short, I know of roughly 35-40 variations for Filler cards. But countless other possibilities that we simply haven’t seen yet to know about.

PS: I’m only counting traditional Filler Cards in my ramblings. None of the other variations that can cause blank/greyscale cards.

Hey guys, I came across this thread and I know it’s old but I pulled this blank gold / tint green blank error card from a celebrations set, it was behind one of the pikachu promo cards that make up the larger picture.

I have no idea what it’s worth but they seem pretty rare and this one is unique and I would like to add it to the post!

@c011ect0r has one of those in his filler collection iirc, so maybe he can give some more info and estimated value for it.

Hey, nice card! This is known as a Filler Card. CGC designates this specific style as a Blank Holo - Green/Yellow Background.

Depending on where you post or share this you might encounter people claiming that it is fake or an altered card. Because of the color on the card due to the print layers, this card can’t be replicated with Acetone or similar chemicals like some other blanks. Generally best to grade it before selling because of these comments.

It’s on the “common” side of holo Fillers with there being more out there than other variations but still a very rare card. Value averages around $450 but that’s +/- $100. Filler card values can be fluctuate a good bit depending on current demand, how many are currently available, and how badly the seller wants to sell it.

Oh wow, thank you so much for the information. It’s nice to know exactly what this card was and I have learnt so much from you!

I honestly was baffled as to why this card would be in the box I got but it makes sense now. That’s interesting they use these cards as a guide while printing, I wonder how often these get lost during their printing runs! I also appreciate the information about the value of the card!

Do you know if PSA grades these cards or should I stick with CGC? I’m glad it’s still considered rare even though it’s a more common filler card, it’s such a unique card!!

PSA does not grade these cards. CGC is the only of the big companies that grades filler cards
