pkonno just listed a PSA 9 Illustrator for sale ($241K BIN)

I don’t have the type of money but sounds like a easy deal for the whales here

You don’t need the money, you contact the person offering 300k tell them you’re capable of getting the card for them. They pay you/the person selling and you pocket the difference.

It’s done all the time in real estate, the only difference is you have less legal loopholes to jump though.

Here’s a thought: if you’ve never bought anything 5 or 6 figures from zen market or a Japanese middleman site, don’t comment on how easy it must be to purchase this card.

I’m not saying its an easy deal. I’m saying that there are 300K offers for this card. If I was a buyer and saw a potential 50-60k savings I’d be flying there, I mean who wouldn’t. Hard to understand that a deal like this wouldn’t work in person

Don’t be authoritarian, people can express thoughts and opinions. Even if they don’t know anything about a subject.

I personally won’t take on the risk, because there’s too much and I don’t need to do it.

On the other hand if someone determines they want to do it, let them go through with it. It’s not completely hard, it’s just a hasstle when you can’t get someone to respond in a reasonable time, because you don’t know if they’re going to be able to ship at a reasonable time, don’t know if they’re going to package it correctly, don’t know what service they’ll use. There’ a lot of things that can complicate a middlemaning

You do understand that the seller is not interested in meeting up in person? If you don´t have unlimited time and nerves there´s much better things to do with your 250k

I understand I bet it would be gone at $200k that probably give ppl enough incentive to jump the hoops and run the risk

Because that’s not how the seller is looking to sell the card. He doesn’t care about a $300k offer vs the $240k it’s listed at now. If someone buys it for $240k on zen market he may well delist it and relist on Yahoo Japan for $310k.

Pkonno in particular is not a random seller on eBay with something worth $240k (say, a complete Shadowless and 1st Ed. Psa 10 Base sets). The “normal” operating procedures, such as an in person deal through a middleman or with the seller, don’t apply. There is no option of meeting the seller to save money.

I’m seeing that from this post but I don’t know why people are saying that, maybe private messages with the seller said that? Didn’t see it on the listing

I believe he has ignored every message ever sent, including those offering huge sums of money, not just on zen market or yahoo Japan, but including his social media accounts and other ways one might get in touch with an American seller on eBay.

Well that’s ridiculous guess we’ll have to see what happens if/when he actually wants to sell the card

For what it’s worth, when I bought the Snap Bulbasaur from him, apparently pkonno sent a message to ZenMarket saying that there was an error in the listing (he accidentally had written the Japanese characters for Chansey rather than Bulbasaur). I had to confirm that I did in fact want the Bulbasaur shown in the pictures and not a Chansey. To to at least this small extent he’s made communication, but I’ve never heard of him saying anything else.

And for the record - ZenMarket’a warehouse took pictures of my Snap Bulbasaur after it arrived in their warehouse. So far it’s been sitting in their warehouse for 8 days. They’ve said they are really backed up and that shipping can take more than a week after they receive it.

As I said previously, I think the biggest factor is that these were never cards he was supposed to be selling in the first place. Or at least one of the factors.

Purchases like this usually entail legal commitments and liabilities that seek to eliminate any kind of risk for both parties.

Pretty sure that regardless of whether he wishes to meet in person or not, the seller already expects this transaction to involve solicitors and legal paperwork to be signed prior to the exchange taking place. I don’t think this is your typical F&F instagram purchase where you hand a guy 240k and hope the card arrives.

We all remember what happened to Trophy Mewtwo and, if I recall correctly, Scott said both parties had done their legal due diligence and still got shafted in the end.

Why is the first post about bulbasaur now and the title still about the illustrator?

I linked to the Illustrator listing right at the beginning of the OP.

The rest of the post is about my experience with the Snap Bulbasaur to prove the legitimacy of the Illustrator in the listing.

Well good to know you made a purchase if that goes through fine that should instill buyer confidence

Damn that sucks that such a high value item gets bogged down the same as any other item. FWIW I had an item (far less than the SNAP Bulbasaur in value) take about 2 weeks to update that it was at the warehouse but I got them to start the shipping process the next day. I paid for shipping yesterday and I’m now only waiting on the final shipping update.

Even more deterrent - ZenMarket is fine but doesn’t seem like the best place in terms of peace of mind to put a quarter of a million dollars into.

There’s no issue with regards to the legitimacy of the seller. No one here is doubting the legitimacy of the Illustrator listing.

Hmmm, it looks like pkonno pulled all the listings that he had up on Zen.
