I know Iâm updating a lot, but I have had a lot of stuff building up over the last half a year or more that I have wanted to post, but hadnât had the time to organize until recently. I apologize for the dump every day, eventually Itâll be more spaced out.
For todayâs update, something that I found a few months ago, and is not entirely completed at the moment. But thank you very much to @thedude1990 for your help in finding as much as I have so far! Iâm still looking, but didnât buy the stuff you brought to my attention the other day, sadly not in the books for me at the moment. But eventually I will complete it!
Iâm not quite a master of these in terms of knowing exactly what they are, but there is a post here on the forum for people that are interested in them. Here and here
Something I didnât realize when I first bought these was that they are TINY. The listing I impulsively bought didnât have anything as a reference for size, so I expected something binder sized, but was very mistaken.
Another day, another update. This one is one that many of you have already seen, but I donât believe I displayed the cards before, only the boxes. My Neo ones are complete, but my Kanto ones are sadly missing a couple cards I think.
I was originally gonna say that the Neo set was better, but after reviewing the arts more thoroughly, I canât honestly decide haha! Both are amazing pieces of Exclusive artwork.
This next one is one that Iâm personally super excited about. I absolutely love these things, I am a big fan of small collectibles in general, if for no other reason than theyâre small. But I love how these look like small books, and theyâve got tiny stickers inside. The stickers are a little fragile, so I donât remove em too often, but it is still cool to look at em. But I just love having this sitting out on my desk for display. Theyâre small enough to not be a nuisance, and thereâs enough of them to be aesthetically pleasing.
Also @papafrankgod , @azulryu , I know you two are Gyarados and Magikarp fans. Not sure if you have these two pieces in your collection, but something to keep an eye out for if not. I have specific pics of them for ya. I know there are other collectors out there for the art of certain pokemon on the stickers, but I know you two at least look at my collection posts.
all I know about them is the term to search it on Mercari Japan. I canât seem to find much info otherwise. ăă±ăąăłćłé(Pokemon Zukan) is the primary term maybe ă·ăŒă«(Shiiru(Seal)) could be attached as well.
@pigeonsyndicate, thanks for keeping an eye out! I thankfully already have one but I havenât seen this many before! Do you know if what you have is the full set?
@azulryu, I know that Iâm missing one of them in total, I think number 5? I want to collect all of those other set as well though, the one with Charizard and Dragonite in the pokedex on the box. I believe there are 16 of those as well, but Iâve read or seen nothing to confirm that. I just know that at least one listing exists with a few more of the little numbered boxes. Also, sadly the sets I bought seem to be kinda torn occassionally, so I havenât counted all the stickers yet. Not really too bothered by it, though, if it isnât complete. I like these purely for the boxes, the stickers are just extra.
Otherwise love the uniqueness of these but with a grain of salt since the disappointment hits hard when grimer and muk are once again left out of a compilation of poison pokemon
Ahhhh!! I get ya now haha! Took me a bit to figure out what you were referring too yeah it is a bummer, Muk and grimer have some solid arts out there though, a notable banned card for one, and that flawless e reader art for Muk. I feel like Muk is also featured on more foil cards than arbok
Haha yeah I couldnât agree more with that sentiment! I donât know how he finds all this niche stuff. I canât seem to find any of it, and he just pops up with new listings all the time haha! I wish I made it in time to buy that Venusaur one. Last one I need!
This set very well might be my most favorite complete set out of anything Pokemon has put out as a set. I love how every trainer has a separate artist corresponding to them. This was also the set that technically got me into Japanese cards. Years ago, The first Japanese card I ever bought was Karenâs Umbreon. At the time I had no clue what Vs set was, or that any more cards like umbreon even existed. I thought it was a standalone card. Thankfully it isnât.
This was a landmark set for me as well since it was first set ever that I bought every card individually over time. It didnât take excessively long thanks to being in the land where it was created, but it was incredibly satisfying to officially complete. To make it even more satisfying, this is one of the few sets I own where the overwhelming majority are grade worthy cards; 9/10 conditions in my opinion at least. I usually donât care much for getting the best of the best, but it just so happened that I found lots of amazing stuff for very cheap. I am incredibly proud of this set.
Amazing accomplishment! People now seem to be constantly posting big collection goals of mine making be super jealous iâm still missing around half of the cards from the set but some day iâll make it too!
So awesome man! Hahah you beat me to it! I am just a few away from completion myself, so you can expect me mirroring this post very soon. Hilarious timingâalmost everyone on the forum loves this set, yet it is so seldom showcased. And it is automatically arranged by artist, so it is one of the first sets ever I can (mostly) arrange in simple chronological order.
Incredible update my dude! It just really is the case that JP is the best. First vending, vhs, then thisâjust makes for the proof that Japan saved all the best for itself.
@joponnes, Youâll get it done soon enough, it might take some time, but itâll definitely feel all that much better when itâs officially finished and can be viewed in all itâs glory!
@brendantheclayboy, Yeah, they didnât pull any punches with this set whatsoever. It is kinda weird that I havenât seen many of these throughout the collection threads. I donât check super often, so youâd have a better idea of who has got em, but it seems even @smpratte hasnât put together a complete binder according to a recent Q+A.
