Here is a picture of me (middle), and my friends playing Pokemon on our gameboys (you can see the silver/gold Prima guide on the floor)
Funny backstory: About a year prior to this photo, my friend Cameron (left) had the special yellow gameboy color. I envied the Pokemon game so much that I stole his gameboy and hid it in a box in my room. When Cameron’s mom came to pick him up, he couldn’t find the gameboy and left crying. After he left, my dad saw through my fake innocence and asked me where I put it. My mom then drove me back to Camerons house and I had to give it back and apologize. That Christmas, my parents got me the teal gameboy color bundled with Pokemon Gold.
It’s crazy to see how powerful the Pokemon lure was even as a 6 yr. old. It checked all the boxes a kid would ever want in a video game–
