Parrotdox's Collection Thread

Hello! I’ve found this forum through web searches a couple times throughout the years, but never really gave it a deep look until recently. I don’t even remember what post specifically brought me here again, but I thought it was finally time to make an account. I think there’s a passion here that is very special, and I look forward to continuing to see everyone’s collections here!

I opened a decent amount of packs when I was a kid, whenever we’d go to the store my parents might bless me with some packs, but unfortunately sold a bunch of my cards during COVID times. However, I never really left collecting and have focused on random and obscure merch for many years. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I’ve always had a special focus on merchandise of my favorite species, and in 2023 I had a moment where I realized maybe was finally time to expand and focus on the TCG again. So my TCG journey is already quite deep! But I still like the concept of sharing my gets going forward, especially since my hunt for odd bits and ends will realistically never end. But we will keep this first post to the TCG.

I have lots of TCG species collections at this point cause when some of your favorites have so many bulk Pokemon cards it has been hard for me to resist expanding. But! I will try to keep this post at least to the head honchos of my collection, the Aggron line and Rayquaza.

I very recently completed my master set (English with Japanese exclusives) for Aggron, my fav Pokemon, and his pre evolutions Lairon and Aron. (If I missed something please someone tell me!)

My very last card was an odd one, the reverse holo Lairon from Unbroken Bonds! I kept hoping I’d see it out in the wild in some bulk but I ended up caving and just buying it online since it basically cost nothing. The empty spot just bothered me for too long!

Next is the most popular Pokemon I like, and my second favorite for sure, Rayquaza! I’m not convinced I’ll ever complete this one due to the prices of two very expensive cards, but he still deserves a good collection! (Focusing on English and Japanese exclusive arts once again)

Now I will be the first to admit that the condition on some of these are something to be desired. When I first started, I was cheap and was all in on buying damaged/HP copies to save money, but as I’ve progressed I really try to get at least MP. Maybe someday I’ll try to replace the really messed up copies but for now I’m just happy to have them in any capacity.

Also I think I’ve reorganized this binder like 3 times? And each time I think I’ve left enough space and set everything up correctly but I definitely still have not. (I blame Bulbapedia) Eventually I will get it right!

My other collections which I’m master setting consist of Karrablast, Lotad, the Wingull line, Lanturn, Oricorio, the Bergmite line, the Anorith line, and the Swablu line. But I think this post is already long enough for now, so I will post those another day. Cheers!

Man SAME, no matter how many time we do it, all roads lead to binder reorganization :meowth:

I’m happy to see the Aggron line get more love, one of the best Steel/Rock-type Pokemon and definitely a favorite to have in the party in RSE aaa

Amazing collection! Always love species collections. And welcome to E4.

About halve of the EX era sets have multiple codes available in the bottom-left for non-holo Commons and Uncommons. Here an overview of all English codes.
For your collection, this boils down to: EX Ruby & Sapphire 25/109 Aron has codes SVF-NH6-66H and SVF-NH6-USB (only the last three alphanumeric characters will be different with these codes for the same card); 49/109 Aron has the codes 8MS-VZ9-431, -7J9, and -JTR; 50/109 Aron has UDQ-DD8-5E5, -FTR, and HJ9; 36/109 Lairon has 50A-FKF-CV3 and -KJA; 37/109 Lairon has W0Q-VCA-3V3 and -TAG; EX Sandstorm 56/100 Aron has 4AJ-BWE-B0P, -FB5, and -GF6; 41/100 Lairon has 8EM-QZ7-46H and -ME8. The other four EX era sets with Aron/Lairon (EX Legend Maker, EX Holon Phantoms, EX Crystal Guardians, and EX Power Keepers) only have single codes for all cards.

Great collection! I always loved the Aggron line when I was playing Emerald because the Steel type is so cool. I also love the Rayquaza collection. (If you can’t tell already, I love my Hoenn Pokémon, haha.) I can’t wait to see your other species collections!

Cheers,

Welcome again to the forums and a superb collection showcase. Aron and its evo’s are such a great species line to collect. Some really amazing cards and also a great species overall. You Rayquaza binder page also looks so good with all the cards displayed together. Really well curated binder collection.

Looking forward to your updates. Thank you for sharing.

Cheers!

Nothing is certain, except taxes and binder reorganization :joy:

I like that saying cause it’s so true. Few things are certain but binder organization is definitely one of them.

Thank you! Wow I knew about some of the RS cards having e-reader and non e-reader variants but not this! I will have to keep a look out going forward! (Going through bulk just got more exciting again haha)

rule #1: there is no such thing as e-reader bulk

Thank you! Honestly Johto is my favorite region but in terms of Pokemon designs Hoenn is absolutely top tier.

Yes sir I agree sir  I didn’t have many e-reader cards as a kid but my expedition through skyridge cards were a part of the few things I held onto! (I definitely regret offloading my gen 3 e-readers though)

Thank you much! I’ve really enjoyed the variety of cards they have and especially love how many gen 3 cards they have (makes sense, gen 3 Pokemon) as that era was most nostalgic for me as well as had some of best variety in holo patterns and art. I look forward to seeing much more from this community as well!

Damn these look good together! I’ve had a lot of mega aggron appreciation for a long time but with these recent aggron posts here regular aggron too is growing on me, i think it’s time to widen the wants list

Beautiful collection that is quite unique. Pelipper and Lanturn are quite underrated pokemon. I had both in my respective silver and Sapphire runs and they carried.
