Ouch! Royal Mail lost my cards. :( - Finally an Update!

wow, thats quite a haul! I hope you do get them back.
My suggestion would be to most probably send them is multiple packages next time or even find a trustworthy middle man in the US that can accept a damaged package and then forward them on.
I know it will cost more but maybe be a preventative to losing so much at once.
Fingers crossed for you.

@professorstephen, yup. If you make a submission you will be presented with the following shipping options:

U.S. Postal Service(USPS), FedEx(Express Service), All UPS Services & FedEx Ground

Each of them has a different address. In my case, I always use Royal Mail who then forward to USPS for delivery in the US.

Thank you, that’s incredible! How do you arrange the forwarding with USPS? Middle-man?

@professorstephen, no need to arrange it.

You simply send to the address provided by PSA for USPS deliveries using Royal Mail and once it leaves the UK Royal Mail’s tracking website provides the option to continue tracking with USPS until it gets delivered to PSA.
Two things to take into consideration though, it can’t exceed 2kgs as that will require Parcelforce and you should send tracked but not signed. Reason for both being that the address in question is a PO Box. Parcelforce doesn’t post to PO Boxes and Royal Mail wouldn’t be able to obtain a signature at the PO Box.
Also worth noting that maximum insurance with Royal Mail is £250. Out of dozens of packages sent with them this is the only time I encountered a problem, and even that apparently derived from the fact that the package was damaged in transit and subsequently refused by recipient and not so much from them actually losing track of it as I initially thought.

Glad there’s some movement in getting these cards back!

I was thinking about this the other day, hoping there was some news!

Thank you for that, incredibly useful! I had no idea Royal Mail used USPS but it makes a lot of sense to have them handle it when it lands in the USA.

Just a question on the insurance with royal mail, are you sure its £250? Royal mail special delivery is standard up to £500 to my knowledge and I recently insured a small parcel to £2500 direct on the royal mail website or is that for UK delivery only

www.royalmail.com/sending/international/international-tracked-signed
www.royalmail.com/sending/uk/special-delivery-guaranteed-1pm

International is £250 max
Special Delivery can go up to £2500 but generally £500 is the max for most parcels.

@justmatt, you can insure International for up to £2500, but it will be sent via Parcelforce.

Unfortunately, as I stated above, Parcelforce does not deliver to PO Boxes, so if you need to send to PSA’s USPS address (Royal Mail) you will only be insured up to Ā£250.

Alternatively, you can send it via Fedex, but I would not be able to chime in on that as I always use Royal Mail.

i really hope you are re-united with your cards. i am still anticipating that somehow myhermes will do the same with my missing cards , although i highly doubt it!
im in the process of trying to take them to small claims for negligence.

@gen2whore, yeah, I wouldn’t hesitate in doing that. I tried myhermes a couple of times in the past and they are completely apalling. Would never use them again.

Royal Mail may not be perfect and is slightly more expensive, but their loss rate is minimal in comparison and their customer service and claims process are much simpler.

I hope the best for your case. Always wonder how something goes missing. Is it a persons fault (thief, taking not care of a package, …) or a system fault. I have also 2 packages lost in the last half year. included a PSA 9 charizard. Can’t do anything about it, only hoping it pops up.
