Original Series Foriegn Language Release Dates

As someone who’s Dutch, I was aware of that Trouw-newspaper article mentioning February 24th, 2000, but not of the Pokémon-Paradijs page mentioning a Tuesday (March 1st, 2000).

Regarding Portuguese, we’ve recently tried to figure out the release dates of all Portuguese sets, but unfortunately for the WotC era sets, it was hard to find information. Your March 2000 does correspond to the initial WotC planned release date for Brazil. But if those were the actual release dates, we don’t know for sure.

Two small corrections regarding the Pikachu promos:

Pikachu 4:
Dutch: 2000-09-12 In addition to the movie promos, Pikachu 4 was in the World Pikachu Collection in Dutch

There are two different Dutch #4 Pikachu promos. One with stamp that was indeed in the Pikachu World Collection 2000 nonet of September 2000 from Sydney, Australia. But also another non-stamped version (with also slightly different translations - although the meaning is the same), from the VHS of the second movie in October 2002. I’m gonna quote my own collection part of it:

As for promos, there are only two Dutch promo cards, both coincidentally being a Pikachu.
The first one is the Dutch WotC #4 promo, released as one of the nine cards of the Pikachu World Collection 2000 set. As mentioned earlier when we discussed the Traditional Chinese releases, this set of nine cards was released at the Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, on September 12th, 2000, and features a golden Pikachu tail shaped stamp at the left-hand side.

The second Dutch promo is the same card, but without stamp. This card came with some copies of the Dutch DVDs and VHSs of the second Pokémon movie (thanks @poketrade for the info), which was released in October 2002.

One interesting thing, is that the other three WB promo cards haven’t been printed in Dutch. Only this Pikachu was printed. When I first heard about this, I figured the reason was because they already had the card layout ready to go due to the Pikachu World Collection 2000 release. But when I put the two cards side-by-side (see the second picture below), you can clearly see the texts of the first attack and inside the block at the bottom are translated differently (although the meaning is still same). The used font also seems slightly different. And the weakness, resistance, and retreat costs at the bottom are in lowercased on the stamped version, but title-cased on the non-stamped version.

Pikachu 27
This was in the home release of movie 2.
French: 2001-08-10
German: ?
Italian: 2001-04-??
Spanish: ?

The #27 Pikachu artwork was only released in Japanese, English and Italian. French, German, and Spanish copies of this promo doesn’t exist a.f.a.i.k. The Italian version of this card was also available with stamp from the Pikachu World Collection 2000.

In April 2001, the second Pokémon movie: Power of the One, was released as Italian version on VHS and DVD, which included the #27 promo Pikachu.
This same Italian Pikachu with golden Pikachu tail stamp was included in the Pikachu World Collection 2000 set, released at the Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia on September 12th, 2000.
