Opinions on regrade... which company

Honestly, I think the sentiment could be from how a portion of the members are possibly exhausted from hearing about how much value something should or could be.

That’s why some are recommending to not worry about collecting or chasing a lable and enjoy your rather than stress over it.

This thread hasnt rly felt overly money focused, the snarky comment was a little uncalled for imo

You said you already came to your conclusion, but id say if ur a psa collector and thats what you want, you should probably just resub it to psa. The card looks very clean to me

Many of your posts have been about expensive cards, gambling on WhatNot rips, determining the price or grade of rare Charizards, posting market-related YouTube videos and Instagram posts, how your collection is worth $100,000+, etc., etc. It’s possible that you are not a clout guy at all, but a handful of your posts have indirectly felt that way.

Some of your hot takes are eyebrow raising and provocative, but it often leads to a good discussion and that’s what is most important. It’s hard to read someone’s personality or motivations behind text, and it’s possible that many members have misconstrued your intentions.

Personally, I don’t care if you’re a clout guy or not. I would love to see your collection, and I only have well-wishes for you and your goals.

And, whats so bad about what i wrote?

There are hundreds of threads on this forum you could have clicked on, you chose to click on the thread thats literally asking for regrade advice. There were really helpful posts made
If your problem is envy, you should check yourself before clicking on thread
I have much more rare cards than this, that I purposely dont share because I cant figure out the forum members sometimes
I love art
I love rare cards
I love chases
I love the adrenaline and rush of ripping
If i cant share that energy then whats the point
We all love this hobby right? Why the negative emotions
I get super excited with my cards. Love to share with you guys a lot more

Let’s keep the conversation productive. @POKEBEAST has done nothing wrong here, just asking for opinions.

Skip psa send to bgs then if you still feel good crack the bgs and send back to psa, but try not to stab it with a knife or screwdriver

Just curious
Is there something you like better about bgs than cgc?
I do personally prefer bgs but find the 9.5 hard line an obstacle
Its still an upgrade though and very welcomed! And i do like their slabs :sunglasses:

No I only grade with CGC but most people want one of those two

Edit: changed my mind. CGC

For the viewers of this thread,

  • Re-sub with PSA (PSA 10)
  • Sub with CGC (CGC 10 or higher)
  • Sub with BGS (BGS 9.5 or higher)
  • Keep PSA 9

While the “just keep it the way it is” and “learn to love it” comments may seem a bit condescending at times, I promise they’re coming from a place of experience and all people are trying to do is help. We’ve all learned over many years of experience that developing emotional attachments to your PSA grades is counterproductive and leads to more dissatisfaction with your collection, when your collection should be bringing you joy. Your posts about this card have been filled with theories as to how and why PSA screwed you out of a deserved 10, and how you can get them to give you what you believe you deserve. This mindset is going to hurt your enjoyment of your collection in the long term.

If all you care about is the monetary value of the card, the correct answer is to crack and resubmit the card to PSA over and over again until it gets a 10. It certainly looks like it could get it.

If all you care about is a 10 from any company, go with CGC. I’d wager their 10s are easier to get than PSA at this point.

Keep in mind that as @mossdeep mentioned, each time you crack the card there’s a significant chance of ruining it forever. How would you feel if in the pursuit of an arbitrary opinion from a grader who is probably paid $20/hour you ruin a card that means so much to you and is a significant financial investment for you even as a lowly PSA 9?

If it got a 9 it’s probably some hard to see surface flaw. I have many PSA 9s with zero whitening, but some surface issue that keep them from being 10s. So, it’s probably better to just keep it as a 9. Unless you’re trying to build/collect a 10 set, it may just be risky to crack it and re-grade with PSA a 2nd time. Might just stay a 9, or maybe even come back lower as well. Maybe higher, but probably very low odds.

If you go with CGC instead, the financial gain and risk involved is hardly worth it. Cracking it out, needs to go through the mail a couple times, etc. A CGC 10 will have a smaller premium than a PSA 10. Then what if you get a dreaded CGC 9.5? Most people want 9s or 10s. I just don’t think it’s worth it most of the time, unless you have a lot of grading experience and open to these risks.

That would certainly suck if something happened.
I graded it a few month ago and wanted to re visit the topic but trust me if it were so straightforward i would have cracked it already

I appreciate the comments and completely understand the sentiment
This isnt fully the situation here, however, as i do indeed have a mint copy for me to always look at, display, and enjoy

Part of my desire for the ten… its because this is my card i picked and pulled. Its extra special to me.

Even though i collect everything, i am a charizard collector at heart.

I have in mind a display case for my office that has a special tier for 5 specific charizard cards. This was one of them, and i really want a matching psa 10 set
Or else this will always stand out like a sore thumb

I fully get that you guys dont necessarily understand my motives
But i guess my point is that, it shouldnt matter. Some things dont need to be explained  i say this kindly and i appreciate your post!

I absolutely agree, if you want it, you should go for it and you don’t need to listen to what other people think you should do!

I dont believe there is a surface flaw

I do believe psa grades vintage charizard cards on a curve.
I say this knowing what the issue was because that was the purpose of the grading notes
And the notes specify the flaw found, specifically, and only, mentions the top back left corner :frowning:

I think i came to a similar conclusion earlier in the thread
Cgc arguably not worth it
Risk with psa giving it another 9, with wasted time and money
And risk damaging rhe card

I think what i will do is try psa one more time
Its not something i will keep cracking
Whatever it gets, thats final
(Unless the grader is a jerk and gives it an 8)

If they give it an 8 just put it back in the 9 and glue it back

Judging from your posts here I would say it’s worth going for a 10 with PSA. Personally I don’t think I could put up with a slab from another company mixed with my PSA cards… would just feel out of place even if it’s a 10 grade

Lol :joy::heart:

Here’s a life hack: resub to PSA in a bulk order. If it gets a 9 again and they upcharge you, you can refuse to pay the up-charge and they send it back ungraded.

They gave this a PSA 9, and emailed me the upcharge. I told them not to worry about it and they send it back raw with no additional fee or upcharge on the $15.

It unquestionably could hit the 10. I sent it back and it got 10.
