Awww! Mona Lisa Pikachu is so adorable!
What about MTG Alters?
I have come across some pretty cool Pokémon artwork though I currently don’t collect them but would seriously consider if the art resonates.
Not sure if they match what you are thinking of in terms of custom Pokémon cards but they are technically drawn-to-order with Pokémon in there.
For example, came across this island alter (with Tropical Wind) on eBay a couple of years ago and thought it looked neat.
This Card Has A Few Inconsistencies, Grass as a weakness? no psychic resist? An English Card With The Japanese Set Logo? Full Art But Not A V/Vstar, Or EX? Umbreon Is A Basic?
Most of them are bullshit, but some are quite likeable for me
I think we’ll get along.
I’m interested
I also love the MissingNo cards I’ve stumbled across.
I don’t actively pursue custom cards, but I have
picked different ones up over the years that have caught my eye.
You have a nice taste.
We’ll get along too.
love the red and blue trainers. surprised cards like that were never made early on
This is pretty much how I feel as well. I do really enjoy seeing people’s artistic ability and creativity, but I also wince while I wonder if they will be smashed by TPCi’s lawyers. I think custom cards are best on a small scale where they have more meaning to the people they are created for. Personally, I probably won’t ever own any unless it came from someone I know or it was a gift.
Are you hunting at a Birthday gift? @tcgmaine
I’d much rather get regular Pokemon cards.
Real custom cards representing artists’ different styles really gets me, these ones made by erosart on ig are really my top pick
The left one being not ditto but betobebi, grimer’s scrapped baby form
Pretty much anything that profits off of stolen IP I dislike. It’s like when you see people selling prints or playmats with art from Pokemon Center campaigns on.
I’ve had some playmats made from postcards that I’ve scanned, but I would never sell them.
I actually like custom card. People can show their creativity and come up with great art that TCPi would not otherwise approve. I also like some proxies, for example the gameboy eevolutions that were officially released only digitally.
Is there any “real” guide about how to print custom cards like sinista or proxymon_de do? It seems that any guide or video around there is just for “foil MTG style” cards, not cards that try to mymic pokemon TCG as these two artists do. I would like to know this because at some point I want to have a commissioned collection for me printed in close-to-real cards, but it is a nightmare.
Its difficult to start, takes a fair amount of trial and error, and people are tweaking it all the time. There’s apparently some information shared on r/customtradingcard. I havent looked into it myself but several others have said it was very helpful to their process.
