Opening Modern EX/GX Boxes vs. Keeping Them Intact

I’m sitting on quite a few of these Gengar EX, Dragonite EX, and Snorlax GX boxes from Gamestops triple bundle black Friday sale. They take up a lot of space.

To my understanding, these boxes aren’t worth much on their own and it’s rare for a box like this to actually increase because the packs are inside the box. Would it make more sense to crack them open and just sit on the packs rather than the whole collection? Or should I keep them sealed.

Obviously, I cannot go back after I open them and I can just sit on them until they appreciate, but it’s annoying having these bulky boxes and plastic.

What would you guys do?

Sell the boxes eat the shipping cost while taking a slight loss to move it. Then I’d go buy singles of whatever cards I want and can afford with that same money. Whether you buy singles of modern or singles or old cards your way better off. If you just want the fun of opening do it up. Pull rates are trash so besides fun there is little upside. Hope that helps and doesn’t discourage you

Well. It has evolutions, primal clash, fates collide, and sun and moon base. I think Id rather keep the packs as I’m already in the profit since I spent 20$ on all 3 boxes(6.50-6.75) a box.

I haven’t seen boxes demand a premium though.

You’re not in the profit, spending money on a discounted item is still money spent.

A quick search on eBay recently sold shows you could probably sell all three boxes together for double what you paid, though that price is most likely due to the baseless spending happening right now. It might take some time for you to sell them off, but it could be done.

Selling the boxes together for double, or cracking some packs and selling the ones you don’t want, would generate profit so long as you make over what you paid. Personally, I would sell, since I don’t really have any attachment to the sets/promos and double my money is double my money.
