Beat Up Sealed Boxes

Just looking for opinions…

I have a beat up sealed 1st ed Team rocket and Gym heroes booster box. Not that nice to look at, so displaying them is questionable. What would you guys do with these?

Sell them

I cant help but feel you’re looking for some validation here to make the financially suboptimal choice

“Open them”. Is that what you’re looking for? Hahaha

If they were mine I’d just put them in a dark, dry place and let them sit. In 10 years people will still want to open these boxes and they are not going to care if they don’t look pretty.

Packs inside likely still undamaged?

Keep them sealed.

There will come a day where no one is going to care what they look like, they will just want sealed boxes.

Don’t open them. Or open them. Or don’t open them. Or do.

but don’t.

As others have already said, keep them. These boxes are becoming more and more scarce with each passing day. Some people may be picky with the condition of them right now, but some time down the line, even boxes with a few dings in them are going to be incredibly desirable because, well, they might be the only boxes that even become available.

Why did you buy them or weren’t they damaged when you initially got them?

My father accidentally sat on a Jungle Booster Box back in the early 2000’s and squished the sides and the top.

I have never forgiven him.

One box I own got a small tear during my ownership, not sure exactly how but it did. Stinks, but I’d recommend keeping/selling - whichever you feel more comfortable with. Item is still essentially sealed and will continue to gain in value - but if the less nice looking one bothers you, you’ll still get a solid amount on a sale

Keep or sell to upgrade to Mint boxes.

I think I would be looking to upgrade… Lets say you can earn 80-90% value. It might only be $200 difference now, but if these boxes go up to like $5000 several years from now we’re talking $500-1000 difference per box between damaged/mint boxes.

Those are the type of boxes I like to crack open and just enjoy opening packs. While financially opening a booster box is rarely ever beneficial you can’t beat the fun and nostalgia of doing it

I purchased them this way. Still love em! Just getting a feel for how people feel about these type of items.

No way to know for sure. Based on the overall damage, I expect them to be just fine. Your answer is how i feel.

Interesting.
