I’m still supporting Jets but if Golden Knights advances to Stanley Cup finals I can be OK with that. All that matters is the champion comes from this playoff pair so at least some Finns can celebrate after most confusing IIHF World Championship tournament.
It’s still hard to understand how we could dominate Canada/USA while losing 3 games to mid-high tier countries Germany/Denmark/Switzerland.

Hope we get a Vegas Knights/Tampa Bay Lightning (Rangers) final. I’ll be happy whichever way it goes at that point and just rooting for a good 7 game series with a few OT games along the way.

Well done Vegas for taking a spot in the finals. It would be a real cinderella story if they’d win that as well on first season, something we haven’t seen since 1996 by Colorado Avalanche.

Yes in practical terms they weren’t expansion team but whole organization was taken to another city that year and new name was given as well.

Vegas is just amazing…what they’ve been able to do with everyone’s castoffs is historic. I think they’ll be my team of choice in the cup final no matter who comes out of the east…
TECHNICALLY incorrect by using the word castoffs, since many of them are established players, but I know the headlines all say that.
The Cats gave them 2/3rds of their top line that have had history of strong production (and somewhat Gallant)
Pens gave them a pretty good vet goalie who is having a career year behind a stronger D than he had in Pit
Caps gave them a top 2 D
Preds had to give up Neal
Haula from the wild with a decent point history
Perron from STL
Theodore from Ducks
Wild Bill was obviously had a crazy good year from CBJ and is the only real outlier.
These guys mostly had line 3/4 minutes or were mismanaged on a team (Schmidt) so seeing career year production from most of these guys is not too surprising.
It really is crazy to see they have made it this far, but the whole notion of castoffs and bad players is just some headline they love to throw around. If it was a team full of skilled NHL players which are coached by Gallant and many of them were just on teams in which they had a better top 6.

It is indeed incredible what they’ve done but as joe mentioned they had the absolute best expansion draft rules in the history of major sports as well.
The comparisons to past expansion teams obviously make good headlines but the fact of the matter is that its comparing apples and oranges.
