Funny story about Nazem Kadri, he’s held the lead in number of penalties drawn multiple seasons; one year with 164 (46 more than the second place player). His father, Sam Kadri, always wanted Nazem to become a professional NFL player. The night that his wife went into labour with their second child, Kadri was stuck at work and got a call from his brother asking him to get to the hospital immediately. So he got into his car and drove as fast as he could. And as he did, Tom Cochrane’s Big League, a song about a father who hopes his son will some day play in the National Hockey League, played on the car radio. As a devout Muslim, he took it as a sign and a few years later, Nazem was entered into peewee play; but don’t let any of this distract you from the fact that in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer’s table.
You shut your mouth! We actually have everyone showing up for once and Trotz is actually playing some rookies. Orpik wasn’t a full dumpster fire last 2 games and DSP is actually not useless sometimes. We have Vrana and Stephenson this year for more speed and Holts looks locked in, unlike last year. Doubt we will outplay and lose 3 games again this year as well. Oshie and Burky injured is not the best, but this year (like the previous 25 years) I believe!
HOW ABOUT THAT GAME! Anyone who didn’t watch the Boston-Toronto game 7 should get it on DVR or something, it was nothing but nonstop action and great hockey.
And now…2nd round predictions!
BOS v. TBL: Tampa Bay is great but I still don’t think they’ll go too far. New Jersey fell flat and couldn’t take them out but I think the Bruins will be able to do it as long as Rask can keep up with Vasy. Between Bergeron, Chara, and McAvoy I think the Bruins can at least contain Kucherov and Stamkos. It’ll be close but Bruins in 7.
PIT v. WSH: Pittsburgh seems to be a two-faced team, they either wreck or get wrecked. This series is about at much of a toss-up as one can be, but I give the edge to Washington as Holtby has been a brick wall since getting the starting job back and Murray has been less than stellar. Washington in 7.
NSH v. WPG: This will be the best second-round series. It’ll be hard-fought and physical, both teams are evenly matched with a Vezina nominated goalie and elite goal-scoring talent. I give the Jets the edge cause of their star power. Jets in 6.
VGK v. SJS: San Jose blasted the Ducks and the Knights blasted the Kings, so neither team really had to deal with too much adversity in the first round. I haven’t seen anything from Vegas to make me think they can’t take down the Sharks though. Knights in 5.
Interesting fact: it only took 7 goals to sweep the Kings in round 1…ALL BY 7 DIFFERENT PLAYERS. Now they score 7 in the first game…ALL BY 7 DIFFERENT PLAYERS.
Who are you supposed to defend???
