Odd Question: where is my pfp from?

Funny enough, I found this awesome art of Dialga for my pfp online somewhere but I can’t seem to find it again and I believe I deleted the pic from my camera roll. Not sure what product it was on and my searches yield nothing.

Does anyone know where this art is from? A clear file? A deck box? It’s undoubtedly Mitsuhiro Arita, but I can’t find it any where.

Any help is appreciated

I’m not sure. I’ve found a scan of art that’s older than that DA post. Did they use that art in their artwork? Or something else going on?

Edit: Wait you can see the signature on the right. You’re right it’s Arita. Still not sure what product this is from though.

Edit 2: Found a higher res scan.

That looks like it was comp’d in from the official art into a card frame. I don’t think it’s the original source

Also reason I’m asking is that I need to find the product it was on cuz I want to buy it

Where do you find this at?

Says it was self-scanned, so it must exist in some capacity.

Just did a few images searches. Can’t find the original, but I see reposts dating back to 2008. Some say it’s Rise of Darkrai related, but trying to confirm that.

Could it have been an Arita wallpaper commissioned by TPC?

I’m not sure a digital wallpaper makes sense, because if that’s the case, why is the only available image a scan of a physical print?

Also the scan has a hole cut by a tool for hanging, similar to what I’ve seen in calendars, but it doesn’t seem to match the dimensions of an open calendar.

Seems like just some 5x7 ratio poster maybe?

The scan on this site shows a hole at the top of the picture which makes me think it was hanging on a retail shelf on a peg. So that indicates it must be a clear file or something fairly flat to be able to hang like that

Great eyes @implode and @cyberurchin. I hope that you’re able to find the originating copy. I haven’t been able to find anything original and tangible, only reprint posters.

Maybe the Arita master could help here @xileets

Aw, thx @cyberurchin .

So, I have seen this before, and know that it was a postcard, but I can’t imagine why there would be a tiny hole in the top of a postcard. Good eyes for whoever spotted that! The time frame of pre 2009 sounds right, as the earliest I can find also corroborates what has been said.

The hole in the scan looks clean, so I’m convinced this copy was NOT hanging, though other copies might have been. It looks to me more like a hole for a brad for closure, and there were some old clear file types that lacked the now standard “thumb notch” on the side. Unfortunately, I can’t find any examples of any of these things… I might try wayback machine… But I will have to search later.

pages i was going to wayback:
