I would love also to block buyers with less than 95% positive feedback.
Having a problem with 1/20 transactions (or more) is a huge red flag to me, especially with buyers.

I pride myself in being a dependable buyer and frequently come into question the legitimacy of certain fellow buyers when they make to the side-offers on certain items.
For example. I was selling a few things last week and one person won a bunch of auctions, however they offered a lowered price on two other items that hadnāt been bid on. Least to say, I said, sure if the price was decent.
Long story short, I thought I was doing them a favor by pulling one of the auctions so I could save the items for them. Now they changed their mind and donāt want them and STILL havenāt paid for the items after three days of confirming a deal. ![]()
Ah Iād go nuts. I canāt stand it. I mean all they have to do is say theyāre not paying and save you so much time.
Thatās way better than dragging it on. Of course Iād rather keep the sale but you canāt force it. :\
Oh story time! I just had someone make a reasonable offer on a high end item. I accepted, which was the first mistake. You canāt just accept offers these days. You have to go through every possible horrible situation in your head and probably develop long term anxiety in the process. Then you can message the seller and see if it pleases and sparkles for them to pay for the offer they entered.
The guy who made an offer messaged me after I accepted the offer. He wondered if he could trade gold for the purchase. I told him no, since the offer he made was cash, as there is not a gold offer option on ebay. He then explained to me how I was wrong, that people do this all the time. I tried to explain how it is not an acceptable form of payment. I also tried to explain how he is offering a trade, which I do not do on items of this value, and you know, that whole not accepted form of payment rule. The eBay āruleā for buyers.
I know some people deal in gold as gold is a precious metal. However, I checked his recent purchases, and he bought from multiple Chinese sellers selling fake gold jewelry for $1-5. Literally the most expensive item in these stores were $5 fake gold rings.
After still being patient with this person, I went through the unpaid item process, closed the case, and a few days later, receive a message from the guy. Here is the actual message:
āHey dont appreciate what you did you need to get back with me or ill have to leave some feedback for you because what you did to me was wrongā
The thing I did wrong he is referring to was open an unpaid item case⦠So next time a member named ācox_harlā makes an offer, prepare yourself, he is the gold standard of fake Chinese gold rings. He was literally offering me the crap you get in the $0.50 machines at toy stores that still think $0.50 machines are a good idea. I am currently on hold with ebay while typing this message. They really need to do something about this non-paying nonsense.
Donāt hog ALL the fun there, Scott.
I heard thereās a guy trying to pay people in cattle, too. Buyers these days.
Itās all insanely ridiculous. I occasionally sell cards through my youtube channel to avoid all the fees, and people just donāt care about paying. I had one guy who wanted to buy a bunch of my cards (about $100 or so worth) and had me email pictures and estimate PSA grades for 75% of them. After finally agreeing on pricing and sending him a PayPal invoice, he didnāt pay and I didnāt hear from him for about a month. I had gone ahead and sold most of the cards on eBay, and cancelled the invoice. He then emailed me asking if we could trade for the cards instead and got mad at me when I told him they had been sold, saying he had them āreservedā. Thereās no binding contract like eBay so I know this is probably to be expected, but its annoying nonetheless.
eBay really needs to set something up where you have to input a payment method before you bid. Its just an epidemic of people who donāt realize the meaning of ābinding contract,ā and eBay canāt do anything to them except a little slap on the wrist and a wag of the finger.
Itās a sad day when a man canāt trade his livestock for Pokemon cards.
By cattle you donāt happen to mean Miltanks do you?
At least no one has offered to pay with their own little kids. ![]()
He wanted to pay you in gold?! He should change his ebay name to pappy_the_prospector. ![]()
Thatās absolutely ridiculous⦠See, this is why I save all of my messages in case something absolutely ridiculous like this happens. I video tape my packaging and mail-ins too. Iāve heard so many horror stories about selling cards. ![]()
But seriously, gold? Sounds so much like a troll that I donāt even want to believe he was serious. ![]()
Twice I accepted gold coins and once a silver bar stamped by a legitimate company. I just made sure I got a little bit the best of the exchange rate and it worked out beautifully every time.
It was always agreed in advance of bidding though so there was no surprises.

Gold and silver is better than winning scratch lotto tickets ![]()
Lottery tickets are fun though! You canāt have fun with gold! D:
Do you accept fairy dust?
So I auctioned some stuff on weekend. For 2 items Iāve already received payment and everything looks good but winner of 3rd item hasnāt still paid or made any contact.
Is it too early to report him tomorrow and give second chance offer for someone else ?
It wasnāt the PSA 9 Metagross gold star that wasnāt paid for was it (same eBay name, so assuming itās you)? I missed the auction deadline by 1 minute. Didnāt calculate the time right =/
Unlimited psa 9 Latias star.
I give my buyers 4 days until i re list my items or give second offers. Iām unsure ebays policy on this myself though.
Iāve found quite a few times ive opened unpaid item cases and the buyers make contact soon after
