Ah ok, so overall just lower quality for Burning Shadows and XY Evolutions. That’s unfortunate. I was hoping it’s some kind of noticeable difference in card stock, which would mean I could look for another Pikachu variant for my collection. Thanks for the info.
Yeah exactly, these textured misprints I’m indeed aware of. I have the shiny Seviper in regular, textured, and glossy variants in my Seviper collection.
By textured I mean that the ridges used in the holofoil are present on the entire card, and it also has holo bleed in addition to that. Probably caused by an ink layer that is applied too thin.
As for glossy, they’re not as glossy as Japanese Glossy vending/magazine promos, but still clearly different from regular cards. I’ve seen it happen multiple times. The Unbroken Bonds Commons from the Build & Battle prerelease kits were sometimes like this (I own some of these myself, including a Pikachu). I’ve also seen some Shining Legends Uncommons, a Pikachu Libre, and some Hidden Fates Commons that had the same issue.
I don’t have a picture of my own cards nearby, but here a picture of a textured and glossy Shuppet from the Hidden Fates - Shiny Vault set to perhaps clarify it a bit more for other people reading this:
(Sorry for going completely off-topic. )
