New Reprint of 151 - Price discussion

Darn, waited a bit too long on it. Oh well, now to wait for the next possible reprint.

Damn @lyleberr, if you weren’t buy it at $45, Idk what you were waiting for bud :joy:

But yes, a reprint is still possible…

I meant to… and then i forgot about it and bought a couple sealed decks with the money :man_shrugging:

Ive been too busy crafting and coming up with ideas for the next signature exchange. Cant expect to throw you a curveball without extensive testing first. Do you think a card made of solid resin would be too much weight multiplied by 50 :joy:?

They do not like what the secondary market is doing to modern tcg. Going back as far as Lost Abyss / Paradigm Trigger meant that they will reprint everything as long as the set is still in rotation when needed. They’re also really cautious about how they distribute anything nowadays, so that nothing can trigger a potential price spike. Look at what they’ve done to promos for the past year:

  • 0 JP-exclusives
  • 0 promos for collaborations (Van Gogh exhibition in Tokyo, Miku promos like MTG)
  • all of Japan’s sealed battle numbered promo prize cards are just regular card reprints
  • their versions of some promos are either the last language to be announced (Worlds 2024 Pikachu promo) or never announced at all (SAR Charizard VMAX, SAR Victini, Terapagos & Friends)

There were several cooperation agreements with mercari and yhj late last year regarding reselling new products, and they just updated their PCJ policy on it (albeit quite late)

@lyleberr whatever creation you create next, I’ll be 100% onboard with ya. I’ll cover the extra cost of shipping to get your art more spread out in the world :art: :earth_africa:

151 Booster bundles are back on Amazon for retail if anyone wants them. 10 booster bundles come in one sealed display. No guarantee that amazon will ship as a sealed display though

$48 for 6 packs is insane. I saw Walmart carry this for $28 and it was scooped up so fast. This set is so popular and will stand the test of time of folks always wanting to rip it.

Pokemon center has the tins for 9.99

Wow, I blinked and the JP booster boxes went from £60 - £90 in the space of a week

Amazon did put them up earlier for $28. Just must be the 3rd party selling now

I’m not trying to create fomo or pumping. This has been posted this week though by Sakura and Poke NE. Just stating what 2 US shops are saying about sourcing the Japanese 151 product.

I got three boxes here in the UK for £60 per box last week, the same website a few days ago now have them listed at £90

Interesting. A further reprint wouldn’t surprise me then - I think it was Koala who pointed out in another thread that TPC does not like what the secondary market is doing to the tcg. I wonder if they would continue to reprint once 151 was out of rotation. Considering the lower overall new release demand vs. 2 years ago + increased printing capacity, I’d imagine they’d certainly have the ability.

@LM23 don’t spose that was Japan2UK by any chance? I buy quite a bit from them, they seem very tuned-in to market movements!

That’s the one!

I only started to buy from them a few months back, their pricing structure is like a breath of fresh air compared to eBay, but they’re quick to update pricing regularly depending on market demand. Which is understandable.

Their singles seem to sell out very quick though and don’t get restocked.

Thankfully no one bought any 151 for $60 from me at NJ CaC lol xD

We will see what it does, but I assume pokemon will print more :person_shrugging:t2:

For some reason I passed on 151 and decided to buy Paradigm Trigger boxes instead :person_facepalming:hopefully we do see another reprint, the set is crazy popular

It also kinda sucks that instead of just printing more TPC is nerfing exciting, exclusive releases to deal with secondary market

They’re sold out (at least it was as of last night when I last checked)
