This is insane! I have 5 cases of 151 and I thought that was a lot.

Plenty of pack prices sit still for years before rising, doesnt meant they wont rise eventually. Here’s a prime example

How the hell is this 4 years ago already? This is still an oven-fresh meme in my brain. Mind you, so is Covid.
To your point, every now and then I check the prices of Hidden Fates ETBs and find they’re still sat at £90-100 as they have been for the last 3+ years. It’s not like they went up to £300 when people first suspected they were out of print. Oh wait. I wonder how long this will continue.

Yea. Hidden fates tins were like double msrp shortly after or even during the end of its print run but its stayed very stagnant this entire time. The japanese version is doing quite well with a booster box going for about 600-650 right now.
It does seem hidden fates has finally within the past year or so started to raise with tins going for 60-70ish.

China has been a little slow to react but prices are finally falling. It’s about $75 a box currently with a wall at that price and very slow buying. The guy priced at 544.99 had 13 boxes about 2 weeks ago, although was priced at 600 until today. I picked up a box for 550 earlier today before the wall moved down.

It seems like Europe is one of the more difficult places to be a collector for a host of reasons. I’ll need to stock up before we make the move over there.

Little update on Japanese 151 box prices in China. Seems a lot of sellers have unwrapped boxes, which hopefully continue to pull the price down as there seems to be no interest. Lowest listing for unwrapped is about $63 (449rmb) while wrapped boxes are at $76 (540rmb).

Seems like after this Month’s reprint, there will be another reprint in June/July as well causing the price to fall to around $65 a box.
Supply is really starting to stack up:

No, I think the best time to buy is right now when this rumored reprint is the talk of the town in Japan. Realistically, the boxes can only fall so far and I feel $50-60 is a very comfortable place to be. I know everyone and there mother is talking about 151, but no one is really talking about all the other deals to be had with Japanese boxes right now:
Shiny Treasures ex: $28
Vstar Universe: $50
Vmax Climax: $90
Eevee Heros: $320
All recent sets: $26 to $33 each
Just something to consider before dumping everyone’s life savings into 151 Booster boxes.

11.9 billion cards a year is just a benchmark for March 2024 - March 2025
TPC Japan has a lot more time between new sets to print every previous in-rotation set in excess now, there’s no need for them to stop at all
They must’ve also realised their mistake releasing so many dual set main expansions that caused their struggle to keep up over the last few years. Trademarks suggest only single sets for the rest of this year

Has it really gone to anyone else since the reprint?
The vaste majority of it is going to:
A. Streamers
B. Timmys that will have it in his closet for 4 months
C. Game stores
The 4-5% of people that will buy these reprinted will open them immediately.
Then out of those listed above, 40-70% of people buying right now will open them/sell them in the next 0-2 years.
Everyone else will have them for the next 5-10 years to open it to sell slowly.

Looks like 151 Japanese is rising back up fast. Last week it was at $60-70 now on SNKRDUNK it is $89…
Oh boy… Let the last minute 151 FOMO begin.
But I predict this isn’t the last of printing for 151 sadly. Hopefully it is the last time, but who knows with Snorlax on the reprint button in Japan.

From my Japanese source, the market price in Japan is 14000 yen ($96)… Geez

What makes you suspect there will be another printing? Just curious, as I would like that to drive singles further down. Mew SAR is about £50 right now.

Not based upon facts, just feelings on pokemon Japan side of things. Since they, right now, are printing everything 2-3 times over than normal as well as much farther timeline in printing than before.
It would be good for pokemon just to leave 151 Japanese alone since they printed so much, but anything is on the table right now with that side of things.
I was expecting come December 151 would be over $100. But it looks like it is happening way sooner than I thought.
We will see what the next stable price for 151 is in the coming months/year. I definitely do not expect it going back up to $200, but maybe in the $130-140 range.
Hmm, maybe I’ll pick up some of those singles sooner than later.
How does one find out which sets are being reprinted, other than when the news is posted here? Is it just SV era sets that Japan has been reprinting like crazy?
Look on the Japanese Pokemon center. Sometimes they have a “print to order” or content creators on YT usually cover the topic extensively. Also the PC has whatever is in stock has a good chance it was reprinted in the past 4 months
