New and Up-and—Coming Pokémon Artists in the TCG

I’ve always loved the favourite artists thread where people showcase some of their favourite cards. I wanted to start a thread to see everyone’s new or up and coming favourite artists.
We all know how great Arita or Himeno are.
We also all know the great work of “semi-new” TCG artists like Sowsow or AKIRA EGAWA.

I want to see everyone’s favourite artists who:

  1. Have under 50 cards illustrated in the TCG
  2. Have released at least 1 card in the SV block thus far.

For me personally two of the artists I’m very excited to keep an eye on are:

  1. Taiga Kayama. The bright and bold colours caught my eye immediately and I hope to see more ARs like this Vanillish

  2. Narumi Sato. A bit larger of a gallery, but still new as of SWSH block. This Sudowoodo is still one of my favourite art rares to date, and they have killed each one they’ve got to do thus far.

Shinji Kanda is a new stand out artist. They‘ve done 25 cards, here are a few examples:

Came here to say this. Have been watching modern from the sidelines and ended up pulling the trigger on collecting Kanda. Little did I know how much the Magikarp and Giratina were, but fun life hack the Japanese Magikarp is like 1/10 the price so collecting the Japanese versions it is

Jiro Sasumo is killing it for me! Leafeon from Prismatic Evolutions and Leafeon VSTAR from Crown Zenith. They also drew the Gardevoir growing up in the house line at the beginning of Scarlet & Violet and they’ve been illustrating since Brilliant Stars. Also kind of cool Jiro won the second Pokemon Card Game Illustration Grand Prix! They still work in an office apparently too? Don’t give up your day job until you’ve illustrated at least 5 SARs I always say. Attached some of my fav cards of theirs!!

Kanda and Yawarakai have already been mentioned, will add Mingo! Some may remember their entry from the art contest:

They’ve done 6 cards so far, hope to see them do more:

What a fantastic thread!

While many other amazing modern illustrators have been highlighted, I’ve really come to enjoy Kuroimuri’s work (especially the Milotic SIR).

At the time of writing, they’ve done 8 cards (all SV). I’ll always preferred naturalistic styles, so I’m excited to see what else they do in the future. Hajime Kusajima has always been my number 1, but he has stiff competition with Kuroimori, haha!

Here are the cards they’ve illustrated so far for those curious:

What is your guy’s opinion on Rika’s Raboot artwork in Stellar Crown? For only having been in SV sets so far, I think they’ve done a pretty good job so far.

Rika is def one of my fave newer artists. Thanks for highlighting them. Their style is wonderful

Matazo is another newer artist I’ve come to like, not at all biased due to them making the froslass AR :eyes:
