I need everyone’s help. Last night on eBay I stumbled across a listing I thought looked suspect. After closer evaluation it became clear imo that I indeed identified a fake.
I very nicely messaged the seller to give him the heads up. He played the ignorance card and even went as far to ask help identify other potential fakes. So I kindly took 5 minutes to peel through his cards listed. Each listing I thought looked susc I messaged and said “potential fake”. Afterwards I said sorry if I’m wrong and it ends up being a waste of time. He thanked me and said “no I would rather be safe than ruin my reputation before I even establish one”.
This is where it gets annoying or interesting for the readers… not even 10 minutes later the fool sends me an offer on a couple of the cards I identified. I immediately called him on it and he said “oh I didn’t realize those were sent to you” (either a huge moron or a troll) then said “I took a look at them and I don’t think they are fake”…
So after taking time out of my day he disregarded everything and basically said f*** you.
So it’s time I return the favor. That’s why I ask for opinions before I take it further with eBay.
This is one of the pieces of junk he has for sale.
Cross compare this image with any other one sold on eBay or reputable card database and the font is completely different. For example Just look at the g in ‘Freezing’. The hook on the top right is obviously different.
Thanks for fast reply. Yea this is what I thought. I made report to eBay but the “AI” determined nothing was wrong (bunch of crap). So I’m following up with a call. The reason why I’m pressing this is because I was alerted someone else made an offer on it. I never denied my offer for this exact reason so I could get alerted to any other offers from others.
I hear you, unfortunately selling fakes is all but common. I wouldn’t expect an ebay representative or ai support to identify fakes like these. If you’re really patient, you can reach out to the seller and inform them if it was unintentional (most likely it wasn’t and you’ll be ignored). Ebay should step it up but they’ve never had, it’s depressing lol.
Yea I received a fake a few weeks back which is why it’s fresh on my mind but I won’t be reaching out to anyone random again because like you said it’s more than likely they know it’s fake to begin with.
I was over it until I saw him receive an offer. If someone was dumb enough to make an offer on the card it’s likely they won’t ever figure out it’s a fake (or until it’s too late) so I’d like to stop that from happening. That’s the real motive here.
Yea it’s funny because I’ve literally seen the wrong attack printed on some really bad fakes. Check this from a couple weeks ago. The Kyogre was the card I ordered and he gave me some free cards to go along with it. All of them were fake (got my money back)
