What would be the wholesale/easy sell price for this?
@kkthxbai is the only person I’m aware with experience in this field.
You can charge what you deem fit or compare to sold prices of a mint unit + the vga costs + postage + small % markup.
Maybe something like 30-38% above retail is fair.
I mainly focus on older collectables where there is more leeway for rarity and scarcity, and difficult to grade good grades.
New items maybe can only get 30-35 % above sold values of the unit alone.
It’s subjective. Just depends on the buyer.
Thanks:)
Not exactly what you are looking for, but I can give you some experience with me ordering this console in Canada.
It was a MAJOR pain in the ass…sony completely botched the sale of this console and essentially they constantly got overwhelmed by the traffic of users trying to check out and it completely killed their online website. I was a huge fan of this edition but after what I went through I became completely disinterested.
I would not value it that much despite its limited quantity or grading, because majority of users would just play with it and most won’t really collect a PS4 edition, due to the sheer amount of editions for this console. It’s also a collectible that show its age, being a PS4 “fat” when there are newer, better editions out there.
I think what makes newer console less valuable than older consoles is because companies in the past won’t make slight improvements to different, older collectibles. A pikachu edition game boy is the same performance of a normal gameboy. A fat 20th anniversary PS4 is a worse version of the PS4 compared to the other PS4 (slim and non slims) out there.
That’s just my two cents though, I am certain some people would completely disagree with me.
I can’t speak on how grading effects the value of a counsel like that but I was able to purchase one when they were released and sold it at it’s peak shortly thereafter. It was a collectible system so a lot of folks hung onto them. With that in mind I think @kkthxbai estimate sounds pretty much spot on for what I’d expect. As I recall mine was packaged very well and as they never were on retail shelves I imagine the grade to have little effect outside of encapsulation. Best of luck!
You can get ungraded sealed systems for like $900 on ebay. So it just depends what you feel it’s worth.
Haven’t been on the video game collecting side in a while, but a few years back a bulk of collectors actually hated VGA graded items. Could be a pretty niche item without a huge market so only a small markup over non-graded imo.
As far as i know VG grading is really frowned upon, i think you should probably get an ungraded one without paying a premium or n collector item like that. Chances are that nearly all of these consoles are in new/newlike condition
VGA only grades the quality of the outer box, they will not unseal or open any boxes. SNES games has been proven to be graded VGA95 while being resealed and missing manuals and even being repo boxes.
