Hi all,
Long time no chat!
Now, for those emotionally invested in this on-going Shedinja collection (good on you!), I bring relatively exciting news, in the form of a very small update and a quesiton.
Firstly, a few weeks ago, I was finally able to nab the unlimited (non first-edition) version of the Beat of the Frontier ‘Shedinja Lv.40’ from 2009, completing my quest to own a copy of every official Shedinja TCG card available in English and Japanese. So that was nice! That particular card had, surprisingly for such a common card, evaded me for so long, so I was delighted to find one that was both great quality and very affordably priced, belonging to a wonderful French seller on Cardmarket named ‘L9du3’ who was able to provide me with (for now) the last missing piece of my puzzle. Here it is, in all its completionist glory:
Secondly, after a long while with no leads on any new Shedinja card, stickers or weird and wonderful curios I could add to my collection, I’ve recently gotten back into searching and, in doing so, have stumbled upon a few things that I may soon be able to pick up on eBay. The strangest of them has to be this:
Listed on eBay under the name “2022 POKEMON Prizma Sticker #141 Shedinja Gold Star Holo Peru Gradeable”, I was wondering if anybody had any additional information about this?
My brief research so far tells me that this belongs to the second of two sticker album collections, released seemingly exclusively in Peru. The first album featured solely Pokemon from Generation I - with a cover depicting Pikachu, Mewtwo, Mew and the three Legendary Birds, as evidenced in this helpful video.
The second album’s cover, though, strangely features the three Legendary Birds of Kanto once again, this time flying above Lugia, and yet the stickers contained within feature Pokemon belonging only to Generation II and III, making Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres wholly redundant as mascot/cover Pokemon. It is this odd detail, along with the name of the set(s) ‘Pokemon Evoluciones Metal’ (Pokemon Metal Evolutions, I’d have to assume?) that make me feel fairly confident about labelling these stickers as not being officially licensed Pokemon products.
If anybody is able to answer definitively either way, I’d be extremely grateful for their input. The sticker itself is quite lovely, so it’s possible I’ll grab one anyway while I can, but I’d much prefer to do so knowing what I was buying.
Thanks!
PS. I also learned that there exists a holographic version of the 2004 Topps Challenge Shedinja card I own, so… yeah, you know what that means.
